June is National Indigenous History Month – a time to honour First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people, and deepen our understanding of their histories and cultures.

We respectfully acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Chippewa, Ojibwe, and Potawatomi peoples, under the terms of Robinson Huron Treaty 61 and the Williams Treaties.

We encourage everyone to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and commit to walking forward together in respect and reconciliation.

National AccessAbility Week – May 31 to June 6, 2026 – recognizes the leadership and contributions of people with disabilities, and the progress they’re helping make possible toward a more accessible and inclusive Canada.

We were proud to join in the celebration as the Town of Huntsville raised the National AccessAbility Week flag at town hall on June 1.

Special thanks to Glen Slater, a member of the town’s Accessibility Advisory Committee and a member of our Self-Advocate Advisory Committee, Debbie Kirwin, a member of the town's Accessibility Advisory committee and a member of our Board of Directors, and team members Rachel Boone and Jennifer Jerrett for these photos.

Happy National AccessAbility Week 2026!

What a week!

People across North Muskoka joined in to celebrate Chalk Your Walk with Kindness Week from May 15 to 27.

Thank you to everyone – our team members, community partners, awesome local businesses, community members and more – who used chalk to share messages of kindness and community inclusion on sidewalks across our communities.

It is always the right time to celebrate what makes our community great – kindness, inclusion, and connection.

Do you have a photo to submit? You can still send it to Alison at [email protected].

On May 6, self-advocates, families, Community Living organizations, and supporters from across Ontario travelled to Queen’s Park to meet with policy makers – and raise awareness about the barriers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities face.

The Council of Community Living Ontario – a group of 12 self-advocates from across Ontario – met with Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Michael Parsa to share stories about the importance of provincial programs in supporting their well-being and self-determination. They also discussed their experiences with ODSP case workers, the Passport program, and other provincial initiatives.

Many Community Living Ontario members and self-advocates had one-on-one meetings with their respective MPPs throughout the day, too.

“Our afternoon reception attracted nearly 150 attendees, and was the perfect way to cap off a busy day,” says Community Living Ontario. “We welcomed Minister Parsa’s commitment to continue working on addressing the challenges faced by our sector.”

Those of us who couldn’t be there raised our flags in support.

Our work – and advocacy – continues all year.

Happy Community Living Month.
