On Saturday, we gathered for the wrap party for the Muskoka Novel Marathon, celebrating its landmark 25th year, and the energy in the room said it all!📚
This event brought writers together to create, connect, and make a real difference in our community by raising essential funds for the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka's Literacy Services. A total of $17,430.50 was raised through this year's marathon, and every dollar helps build a stronger, more connected community for all of us!
The wrap party was also a chance to celebrate the remarkable talent in our community, as we honoured the winners of this year's awards, including the peer-awarded titles. We're especially excited to congratulate the winners of the coveted Best Novel category:
🌟In English, first place went to "Bond Unbroken" by Stacey Hunt & David Gambrill, with an honourable mention for "Between Skin & Sky" by Kathleen May.
🌟 In Spanish, two outstanding novels tied for first place: "La Casa de Almert Street" by Maria Isabel Lopez and "Le recolectora de pigmentos" by Wendolyn Lozano.
Congratulations to every winner and to every writer who poured their heart onto the page. Your stories inspire us all!
This year's marathon was a true success, and it's all thanks to every participant, everyone who generously donated, and the hardworking staff and volunteers whose dedication, warmth, and countless hours behind the scenes made this milestone year the special celebration it deserved to be. ❤️
