Charitable work is cyclical - it takes community to support charity, in order for the charity to continue to support the community.

Charities provide organized avenues for others to channel their own charitable spirit via time as volunteers, funds as donors, and knowledge as mentors and Board members. Today of all days, please support your local charities - give them a follow, read their latest newsletters, volunteer, and generally engage with the work being done. And thank you for the ways you have already supported charity in your community!

Dementia can’t wait: Three Huntsville Rotary clubs bring community together for dementia home care conversation

Dementia doesn’t just affect the person who receives a diagnosis. It affects spouses, children, grandchildren, caregivers, and entire families — often leaving them to navigate a complicated home care system while trying to care for someone they love.

Recognizing the need for greater awareness and community conversation, the three Rotary Clubs serving Huntsville — Rotary Club of Huntsville, Rotary People of Action Huntsville and Rotary Club of North Muskoka — are joining together to host a free public awareness event focused on dementia and home care.

“Dementia Can’t Wait: A Community Conversation on Dementia Home Care” will take place on September 17, 2026, at Trinity United Church in Huntsville. The evening will feature a screening of the documentary No More Silent Battles, followed by a panel discussion with experts who will explore the realities of dementia care and the challenges families face when trying to access support at home.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the film beginning at 7:00 p.m.

While Jean may already be a familiar face as one of our volunteer drivers for 2 years, we are pleased to share that Jean has now permanently become a staff driver with us!

On August 18th, we said thank you to our volunteers for being at the helm of another year of tremendous support for seniors in our community! 👏👏👏

The BBQ lunch was prepared by one of our sponsors, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐱, who run concession stands across Ontario and are new to our Huntsville community. They've shown up for our community in a big way this week, and we're grateful to have their support! 💪

Likewise, Kurtis Kelly, owner of 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐤𝐨𝐤𝐚 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜, is new to our community but has family ties to the area. Out of the blue, he called us, introduced himself, and asked "how can I help?". Thanks for your support, Kurtis! That's the spirit we love to see from local business owners - giving back to the community that means so much to them!

In all, 53 of our volunteers met for lunch, learned about the park from Kayla Moores (from the 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞), enjoyed conversation and activities with each other, and even participated in bocce games run by Scott & Sharon of the 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐁𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛.

We are grateful for our volunteers and engaged businesses, whose support is directly linked to the community impact we're able to have 🙏
