What a beautiful day for the annual 5k Run for the River race! β˜€οΈ Thank you and well done to everyone who joined us, and to all those who helped make it happen. 🌱 Funds raised will go directly towards enhancing river health and fish abundance in our local rivers. What a beautiful example of community members investing in their community!

Thank you North Rustico Food Market for providing discounted food for the barbecue.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out to Glasgow Hills Golf Course and participated in our Tracks and Signs of Wildlife Snowshoe walk, led by Kate MacQuarrie

Kate shared valuable knowledge about native plant and animals species, teaching us how to identify different animals tracks, s**t, signs of wildlife, and even showed us some edible plant species and how to prepare and use them. Thank you for leading our walk Kate, it was fantastic!

We would also like to thank Wildlife Habitat Canada for supporting this event.

🚨Our 2026 Announcement!🚨

Something that the RBS has been wanting to achieve for quite some time was developing a competition that aided and enhanced natural environments on Prince Edward Island.

This year our new P.E.I. WI board advisor, Jennifer Stenhouse, collaborated with local watershed groups and conservation groups to create a new competition. She presented it at our AGM and was voted on and approved to put into place for 2026!

So without further delay, our new competition for 2026 is…..πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯

Over the course of the next few weeks, Jennifer will be posting supporting resources and information as to why native planting is crucial not only for biodiversity on your property but the overall environmental impacts on Prince Edward Island.

Each summer we install cover logs along different streams in our watershed, particularly in areas that don’t have natural cover.

These areas are typically forested areas with little canopy cover, or in beaver meadows where there is very little vegetation other than grasses along the stream. As well as tree planting in these areas, we also install cover logs to give our aquatic friends some extra support 🐟🌳
