🐦🥚Tree Swallow project update!
We have been busy this season monitoring our tree swallow nest boxes, and we’re happy to report that we’ve seen a full nest with eggs in 13 out of 17 boxes!
We have also had the opportunity to band the adults at most sites, thanks to Matt Ginn from Forests, Fish & Wildlife PEI and Fiep de Bie, the banding permit holder!
Thank you to the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund for supporting this project, and be sure to check out all of the other participating watershed groups!

Yesterday, WRIG attended the French for the Future's Local Forum! We had attended this event last year, and were happy to participate again, and got to speak to students about careers in the green jobs sector, and more specifically, about watershed groups in PEI and the work we do in our community.
Thank you to RDÉE Î.-P.-É. Inc. for inviting us again to this amazing event!

Hier, WRIG a participé au Forum local de Français pour l'avenir! Nous avions assisté à cet événement l'an dernier et étions ravis d'y participer de nouveau. Nous avons eu l'occasion de discuter avec les étudiants des carrières dans le secteur des emplois verts et, plus précisément, des groupes de bassins versants de l'Î.-P.-É., et du travail que nous accomplissons dans notre communauté.

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM this year, and thank you to our guest speakers, Dr. Josh MacFadyen and Daria Kass, for your wonderful presentations on the history of the Island and the Wheatley River watershed area. And thank you to Dr.MacFadyen for sharing your book “Time Flies” with us, and graciously donating 2 copies that were given out as door prizes.

🐟 The smelts are back for the season, and we are looking for your help!
WRIG is conducting smelt surveys, and we are interested in hearing from you if you have seen smelts this year or if you have been fishing for smelts in the Wheatley River and surrounding areas.
