Inclusion: At Through the Years Day Care & Community Centre we believe that every child should be able to attend an early learning and child care program. We also believe for those children who require additional support, needs should not hinder a family's ability to enroll their child in such programs. These programs provide the environment and experiences that promote growth in all areas of dev

elopment. It is our mission to provide a developmentally appropriate group experience for all children in our centre. We believe by practicing inclusion we encourage the development of real relationships, the sense of belonging for all children and teaching dignity and equality. Inclusion benefits everyone: the children, the parents and even the staff. Children of all abilities learn from each other and we are committed to adapting experiences and routines so all children can participate actively and meaningfully in a natural environment. Our centre employs a full time program support person to enhance ratio in classrooms where children with special needs need extra support.

This week we said farewell to our fantastic summer students. Without their help this summer, staff would have never been able to take their much needed vacations. Huge thanks to Sophia, Scarlett, Megan, Josie, Carlie, Kayleigh and Maddie!

We are seeking a reliable maintenance person to support our centre with small repairs and general upkeep. This role averages 5 hours per month and includes tasks such as minor repairs, routine maintenance, yard work, and assembling items as needed. If you enjoy hands on work and helping keep our environment safe and welcoming, we’d love to hear from you.

This year’s Duck Derby was a fast one, with just over 1600 duckies racing to be first across the finish line. Here are the winners:
1st prize of $750.00 is duck #609 sold to Shelbi Genge
2nd prize of $350.00 is duck #782 sold to Amanda Harnish
3rd prize of $200.00 is duck #534 sold to Justin Frank

This is a pyramid of what children need to thrive and learn and grow successfully, in order. When the child has the base, they will be more successful through the upper tiers. Our Through the Years’ educators live this pyramid everyday with the children, most days starting at the base and soaring up to the top each day.

Annual Rubber Duck Derby Fundraiser. Proceeds to ongoing costs of the high quality early learning programs at Through the Years Day Care & Community Centre. Race takes place August 8th at Mill Cove Beach on the Mill Cove Shore Road. Ducks will be launched down the brook at 2:00p.m. First, second and third duck across the finish line wins big cash prizes. $5 a duck or 5 ducks for $20. Get your ducks from any day care family or staff member, drop in the day care or e-transfer throughtheyears-coordinator@hotmail. Thank you for your support.
