Through the Years Early Learning Centre

Through the Years Early Learning Centre Through The Years Early Learning Centre is a non-profit child care centre located in Hubbards

Inclusion: At Through the Years Day Care & Community Centre we believe that every child should be able to attend an early learning and child care program. We also believe for those children who require additional support, needs should not hinder a family's ability to enroll their child in such programs. These programs provide the environment and experiences that promote growth in all areas of dev

elopment. It is our mission to provide a developmentally appropriate group experience for all children in our centre. We believe by practicing inclusion we encourage the development of real relationships, the sense of belonging for all children and teaching dignity and equality. Inclusion benefits everyone: the children, the parents and even the staff. Children of all abilities learn from each other and we are committed to adapting experiences and routines so all children can participate actively and meaningfully in a natural environment. Our centre employs a full time program support person to enhance ratio in classrooms where children with special needs need extra support.

Huge thanks to our amazing returning summer student Kayleigh Hiltz and her sweetheart Cohen, who took on this amazing project over the winter- a playhouse for our playground. Kayleigh approached Chester Building Supplies to donate the building supplies and they happily supported her endeavour. Kayleigh is a special person with a huge heart and we are so happy she is spending another summer with us. Today the children tried out the playhouse and reviews were fantastic!

This safe and accessible sidewalk all around the loop is going to open up so many outing opportunities for us at Through the Years Early Learning Centre, we are so excited.

Construction of the Hubbards Loop sidewalk is expected to begin on May 4 and last until the end of fall, expanding our active transportation network and providing safer options for pedestrians.

The sidewalk is 2.1 km starting at the Front Road where it intersects with Highway 3, following Front Road to the intersection of Highway 329 and then rounding back to meet Highway 3. Grubbing and tree trimming has already begun. This project was awarded to Dexter Construction.

If you have any questions, please contact the Municipality of Chester's Public Works Department at [email protected].

🌟 Day 5 – Spotlighting SUPERHEROES UNITED 🌟

Today, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on two incredible community champions: Rhonda Buffett and Paulette Harnish Benight, nominated by Through the Years Early Learning Centre.

In 2017, Superheroes United was founded with a clear and compassionate mission: to create a welcoming, supportive space for families of children with differing needs. What began as a simple idea—to bring families together—has grown into a vital community program serving families of all ages and abilities from across the South Shore.

Through it all, Paulette Harnish Benight and Rhonda Buffett’s contribution has been paramount to its success.

Superheroes United provides thoughtfully planned activities where children can participate fully, feel included and experience the joy of belonging. Whether through social events, creative programming, or family-focused outings, Paulette and Rhonda ensure that every child is celebrated for who they are. Their approach goes beyond entertainment; it fosters confidence, friendship and emotional well-being.

Equally important is the support they provide to parents and caregivers. Families navigating complex diagnoses, educational systems and service networks often feel isolated and overwhelmed. Paulette and Rhonda serve as knowledgeable guides, helping families connect with mental health resources, specialized equipment loan programs and early intervention services. Their leadership bridges gaps in services and empowers families to access the help they need.

The dedication Paulette and Rhonda have shown since 2017 is extraordinary. They have invested countless volunteer hours into planning, organizing, communicating, and advocating—always with inclusivity at the forefront. Their commitment extends beyond scheduled events; they remain accessible, compassionate and responsive to families’ evolving needs.

What truly sets Paulette and Rhonda apart is their unwavering belief that every child deserves to reach their full potential and feel part of something meaningful. Superheroes United is not just a program—it is a community built on empathy, advocacy and hope.

😊Through their vision and sustained dedication, they have created a safe haven where families feel connected and empowered😊. Thank you

Stay tuned as we continue spotlighting our amazing volunteers tomorrow! 🌟
