Announcing: Inotsiavik Student Part-Time Position!
- For ages 15-19. Students must be in school or have recently graduated.
- This is an in-person position for Hopedale residents.
- Wages: $17 per hour.
- Up to 210 hours total from September 28th, 2026 - March 25th, 2027.
- Maximum 10 hours per week (after school and/or on weekends).

This Inotsiavik Student Position is an opportunity for students to gain work experience while learning about and participating in Inotsiavik’s Language and Culture Programming.
A main goal of this position is to give students the opportunity to explore the areas of work that interest them most. Students will contribute to the day-to-day work of Inotsiavik while learning through hands-on experience, participation in programming, and involvement in the community.
Students will have flexibility in how they spend their work hours depending on their interests and goals. For example, a student who is mostly interested in working in the shed, tool making, sewing, or land-based skills may spend most of their hours developing those skills. A student who is more interested in Inuttitut learning or supporting language programming will have opportunities to focus their hours in those areas.
Students are NOT expected to already have experience in these areas. The position is intended to provide an opportunity to learn, develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain experience in a workplace environment.
Depending on their interests, students may participate in:
- Programming preparation: helping prepare spaces and materials for programs such as Youth Night, Sewing Circle, and Inuttitut Socials.
- Cleaning and organization: helping maintain Inotsiavik’s spaces, including putting materials away after programs, sweeping, mopping, and keeping work areas organized.
- Administrative assistance: learning about and assisting with tasks such as printing and organizing resources, answering emails and phone calls, and understanding workplace policies.
- Workshop facilitation assistance: supporting Inotsiavik staff and instructors with activities such as sewing, sealskin cleaning, tool making, or Inuttitut lessons.
- Hands-on skill development: learning and practicing skills such as tool making, sewing, land-based skills, and other traditional and practical skills.
- Inuttitut language learning and programming: participating in language activities, learning about language instruction, and assisting with Inuttitut programming.
- Community engagement: participating with the Inotsiavik team when partnering with other local organizations.
In addition to learning through Inotsiavik’s programming, students will have opportunities to develop skills that can support them in future employment and education.
Inotsiavik will provide support with:
- Resume writing
- Interview skills
- Professional communication
- Workplace expectations and policies
- Communication by email and phone
- Working as part of a team
- Building confidence in a professional environment
