Weโre hosting an upcoming Canadian Fi****ms Safety course this June for anyone looking to upgrade their fi****ms licence hosted at the Hinton Fish & Game/Yellowhead Arrow Launchers.
You may ask why anyone would still want to get a ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ฌ๐? Even if you can not or donโt want to own a restricted firearm. This is a question we commonly get, so letโs answer it!
๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ช๐ก ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ก๐ค๐ฎ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ -There are many professions out there such as law enforcement, corrections, the military, or even security where having your restricted possession and acquisition licence (RPAL) is a job requirement or, a huge asset on your resume.
๐๐๐ฌ๐จ ๐พ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ - Fi****ms law in Canada is constantly changing, what is the case today with such things as a handgun freeze, may not be the case tomorrow.
๐พ๐ก๐๐จ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐จ ๐พ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ - As was the case on May 1st 2020, when an Order-in-Council reclassified over 1500 types of fi****ms from the non-restricted/restricted class to the prohibited class, and many subsequent additions to that list.
๐๐ ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐ค๐ฌ๐ฃ ๐๐๐ฉ๐จ ๐ง๐๐๐ก๐๐จ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐ข๐๐ฎ ๐๐ ๐ข๐ค๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ง๐ค๐ฉ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ - If the government was to come out and move all semi-automatic fi****ms into the restricted class (including your semi-automatic .22LR), and you already have your RPAL, the process to keep it is much easier.
Governments in both Australia and New Zealand have done this, it is not farfetched to think it could happen here. If you only have your non-restricted PAL, you will be in line behind over 1 million other Canadians simultaneously trying to upgrade. This will create long lines to access the course and even longer lines to upgrade your licence.
