The Rupertsland Institute Mobile Employment Unit is parked at the Green Square this morning!

If you're looking for information on employment services, training opportunities, education funding, job search assistance, or other supports, now is a great opportunity to stop by and connect with their team. Rupertsland Institute provides employment, training, and education services to Métis people throughout Alberta, including through their mobile employment units.

They'll only be here for the morning, so don't miss your chance to stop in, ask questions, and learn about the programs and opportunities available. www.rupertsland.org

They look forward to seeing you!

On June 6, we recognize Blue Jean Jacket Day, a grassroots movement launched in Edmonton in 2023 to raise awareness for missing, murdered, and exploited Indigenous men and boys. Created as a counterpart to Red Dress Day, people are encouraged to wear or hang up a denim jacket in solidarity and remembrance.

The day began thanks to two powerful advocates, Stephanie Harpe and April Eve, who wanted to ensure the voices and experiences of Indigenous men and boys were not left out of conversations around justice, safety, and healing.

This day reminds us that violence in any form must end. Indigenous men and boys continue to face violence, exploitation, trafficking, and systemic harm, yet their stories are too often overlooked.

At the Moose Hide Campaign, we believe creating safer communities requires all of us to walk together with care, accountability, and respect. We honour all those impacted by violence and stand alongside families, survivors, and communities calling for justice, healing, and change.

The Hinton Friendship Centre would like to Congratulate Lena Ouellet on receiving the 2026 Seniors Lifetime Achievement Award!!

For so many years, Lena has given her time and heart to our community. Even at 84 years young, she’s still out there volunteering and showing what true dedication looks like. She also serves as the Elder on the Hinton Friendship Centre Board, where her wisdom, guidance, and commitment continue to make a meaningful impact.
From helping with her kids’ activities over the years to being involved with the Share Shop, Friendship Centre, Métis Nation, Scouts, church groups, historical societies, and Truth & Reconciliation events—Lena has touched so many lives.

Her kindness and generosity don’t go unnoticed, and we’re so proud to celebrate her. Such a well-deserved recognition! 👏✨
