✨ MEMBER PROFILE MONDAY ✨

Meet Shirley Crawford ❤️

Shirley is a retired teacher, office administrator, and principal who spent 32 years working within several Alberta school divisions—including the Foothills School Division, where she retired as principal of École Joe Clark School in High River in 2004.

Throughout her career, Shirley worked with students from Grades 2–11, many of whom faced learning challenges. She also taught ESL students, served as a Reading Consultant, worked as a program specialist, and held leadership roles in schools throughout Alberta.

A proud mother, stepmother, and grandmother of 13, Shirley now spends her retirement travelling, cruising the world, and enjoying time with her family. ✨

Shirley has been a member of 100 Women Who Care Foothills for 8 years and says she joined because she wanted her donations to create the greatest possible impact close to home. She has also been involved with Solace Grief Support Society since its inception in 2017 and currently serves as Past President.

Fun fact? Many people are surprised to learn Shirley holds an Educational Doctorate—and that she still line dances at least twice a week! 💃

Thank you, Shirley, for your years of leadership, community involvement, and dedication to supporting local causes in the Foothills. 💛

From June 1 to 7, Alberta celebrates the 40th anniversary of Seniors’ Week. This annual declaration provides an opportunity to recognize the profound impact seniors have on our local communities.

In observation of this week, municipal teams and local seniors' organizations in Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley have coordinated a series of public events, educational workshops, and social gatherings.

We encourage community members to review the complete, detailed schedules and registration requirements on the official municipal event calendars for the Towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley.

Join us in celebrating the connections that bridge our generations.

Yesterday marked 46 years of FAIM!

Since 1980, FAIM has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live, work, and thrive in the communities they call home. What began 46 years ago has grown into an organization that supports nearly 200 individuals across Okotoks, High River, Strathmore, and Airdrie.

To our clients, families, staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters—thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we continue to build communities where everyone belongs.

Happy 46th Anniversary, FAIM! 💙
