FooD for ThOught is a school lunch program that will service all of the elementary, middle and high schools in High River, Blackie and Cayley.

High River Food for Thought is a lunch program available to all the elementary, middle and high schools of High River, Blackie, Cayley and Diamond Valley. Our program is intended for students who for various reasons come without lunch to school. Parents, teachers and students themselves can request to be added to our lunch program through the schools guidance counsellors. Once signed up that child will receive a balanced lunch every school day.

Food for Thought may be the name on the lunch bag, but it’s the community that makes those lunches possible.
Volunteers give their time.
Donors give their support.
Sponsors help us continue.
Schools help connect us with the children who need us.
And together, we help make sure local children have access to a healthy lunch at school.

Today is a day to pause and be thankful — and we have a LOT to be thankful for.
We’re thankful for the volunteers who give their time.
We’re thankful for the donors and sponsors who give generously.
We’re thankful for the schools and staff who help us reach the children who need us.
And most of all, we’re thankful for a community that believes every child deserves access to a healthy lunch at school. ❤️

🥪 Ever wonder what goes into a Food for Thought lunch?
It takes much more than putting a sandwich in a bag!
There are groceries to organize, food to prepare, lunches to pack, deliveries to make and a whole team of volunteers helping behind the scenes.

🧡 September 30 | National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today we pause to remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour Survivors and their families, and recognize the lasting impacts these experiences continue to have on Indigenous communities.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us of a simple but powerful message:
🧡 Every Child Matters.
As an organization focused on ensuring children have access to healthy food at school, this is a day that reminds us of the importance of caring for children, listening to their stories and working toward a future where every child is treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Today, we listen.
Today, we learn.
Today, we remember.
