🔥 WILDFIRE RESILIENCY WORKSHOP 🔥

East Prairie Métis Settlement members and youth are invited to participate in an important Wildfire Resiliency Workshop.

📅 September 9, 2026
⏰ 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Topics will include:

🔥 Wildfire response
🚨 Emergency management
🌲 Wildfire prevention and mitigation
🪶 Cultural burning and prescribed fire practices

EPMS youth are highly encouraged to attend and participate!

📢 NOTICE TO MEMBERS

Please be advised that office services will be limited throughout this week as several staff members will be participating in Emergency Preparedness and Incident Command System training.

We ask for your patience and understanding as staffing levels may be reduced and response times may be longer than usual.

This training is an important part of strengthening our community’s preparedness and ensuring staff are better equipped to respond effectively during emergency situations.

We would like to inform members that Forestry has responded to the previously identified area of concern and has effectively extinguished it.

We appreciate Forestry’s quick response and efforts in ensuring the area was addressed safely.

⚠️ COMMUNITY NOTICE – LIGHTNING STRIKES ⚠️

We would like to inform members that lightning strikes have been identified within the Settlement.

Forestry and HAC are aware and are actively responding and monitoring the affected areas.

We ask members to please remain cautious and avoid any areas where crews may be working. If you notice smoke, fire, or anything of concern, please report it immediately.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL EAST PRAIRIE RESIDENTS

East Prairie Métis Settlement is reminding all individuals residing within the Settlement that they are required to ensure their residency and occupancy information is properly reported to the Land & Membership Department.

🏠 LEASES & LAND OCCUPANCY

All leases or other agreements involving the use or occupancy of Settlement land must be submitted to the Land & Membership Department for review and approval and, where required, properly registered.

Private or informal agreements do not replace the proper approval and registration processes required for interests in Settlement land.

These requirements help ensure that the Settlement maintains accurate information regarding who is residing within the community and who has authorized rights or interests in Settlement lands.

If you are currently residing on East Prairie Métis Settlement and have not provided your information, or if you have a lease or occupancy arrangement that has not been submitted, please contact the Land & Membership Department to ensure the appropriate documentation and approvals are in place.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in ensuring our residency, land and membership records remain accurate, current and properly documented.
