This past weekend, Hand Cycling Canada held an Adaptive Mountain Bike event at Horseshoe Bike Park. In Copeland Forest, SCMBC members, Copeland Forest Friends, and Peace & Wheelies MTB, and HCC riders joined forces to support guided rides with aMTB participants.

The experienced riders are seriously badass. It was incredible to see new riders gain confidence and make so much progress in just one day. The skill, determination, and joy out on the trails were something special.

What a way to finish our very first SCMBC Family Social Ride season!

More than **90 riders** joined us at Hardwood Ski & Bike for the finale, and even the rain couldn’t stop this crew.

Huge thanks to Hardwood Ski and Bike for opening up for us and giving our families an incredible place to ride, eat, connect, and celebrate the end of the season.

Thanks as well to every parent, volunteer, ride lead, sweep, photographer, helper, and family who helped make the night happen.

A little wet. A lot of smiles. One very memorable finale.

WHAT A SUMMER AT THE HEIGHTS!

Before we officially wrap things up, I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to the seriously dedicated riders who showed up, got their hands dirty, and proved that they love doing hard things.

Let’s be honest… there’s nothing easy about The Heights.

But through our Thursday nights of building, collaborating, problem-solving and riding, we didn’t just get a lot accomplished — we built community. I’ve made new friends, forged deeper bonds, and shared some pretty epic nights on the mountain with all of you.

And then there was LEGENDS… what an absolute BANGER of a night!

A massive thank you to the incredible sponsors who helped make it happen:

🤝 And a whole lot of building, riding, laughing and community along the way.

All in all… one seriously productive summer.

A huge thank you to The Heights Ski & Country Club for the partnership and for continuing to support mountain biking at The Heights.

And to the Simcoe County Mountain Bike Club board — thank you for believing in the vision, supporting the work behind the scenes, and helping bring all of this together.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up. Trails don’t build themselves. Communities don’t build themselves. And none of this happens without people willing to put in the work.

This summer was a good one.

I’ll see you all THIS THURSDAY for our final community night on the patio for THIRSTY THURSDAYS.

SUNDAY AUGUST 23 — VANS TRAIL BUILD DAY

We’re getting close.

If we can get 16+ volunteers out this Sunday, we should be able to finish the summit entrance to Van’s Trail and connect it into the existing Ghost Trail, bringing the trail right through to the Mid-Mountain entrance.

There’s lots to do, and we need everyone.

We need:

Blowers

Diggers

Shapers

Rakers

Grass cutters

Berm builders

Pump track crew

Drop builders

While the drop crew is finishing the last touches on the Van’s Trail drops, the rest of us will be working on the flow trail that ties the whole section together.

What to bring:

Water, bug spray, shovel, rake, snips/loppers, gloves, and long pants and sleeves.

💥💥💥PARKING IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:
Please park at the top of the designated SCMBC parking area at The Heights of Horseshoe. Do not drive past the service road onto the property.

We’ll have pickup trucks there to shuttle everyone up to the summit work zone.

Lunch and bevies will be provided.

If you’re coming, comment below and let us know how many people you’re bringing so we can plan enough food.

Let’s get this one finished.
