Hampton-Piggs Peak Partnership Connecting communities to reduce the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS in Swaziland. In the spirit of Ubuntu, we are compelled to care for our neighbours.

An AIDS epidemic, on a scale unknown anywhere else in the world, is devastating the small country of Swaziland. In the face of their suffering, the Swazi people cling to an ideal they call "Ubuntu", the essence of humanity that tells us we are all connected and should care for each other. In Hampton, we are proud of our community spirit and we know that, as humans, our community is the world. Our

neighbours are not only the people next door but also the people in Africa, the people in Swaziland... the people in the town of Piggs Peak.

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to the Hampton-Piggs Peak Partnership in memory of Shirley Bettle, in keeping with her wishes.

Shirley, who passed away on May 4, was a longtime supporter of our work and deeply believed in each of our three core values: education, gender equality, and support for grandmothers (gogos). Her compassion, generosity, and commitment to others reflected the very spirit of the Partnership.

We are grateful to all who have chosen to honour her memory in this meaningful way.

A picture says a thousand words. This one illustrates Ubuntu.

Two political leaders. Different parties.

And yet — simply two human beings standing together, sharing grief in a time of tragedy.

Ubuntu, the philosophy guiding our work in Eswatini, reminds us that our shared humanity runs deeper than geography, race, language, or politics.

Education. Gender equality. Supporting gogos who carry entire families. Different actions, same belief: our lives are bound together.

This is humanity.

A big thank you to the Hampton Rotary Club for their generous support of the Piggs Peak Partnership.

Rotary has committed $1,000 per year for five years — and that matters. Our Starfish students are supported for the full length of their secondary education, typically five years. When donors make the same long-term commitment, it allows us to stand behind those students with confidence.
