Important Update for the Bayers Lake Terry Fox Run Team 🚨

Although we’re sad the Chain of Lakes Trail is closed this year, we completely understand and respect the decision. The good news? We’re teaming up with the amazing Terry Fox Run - Hammonds Plains group—and we couldn’t be more excited to honour Terry’s legacy together!

📍 New Location:
Highland Park Subdivision 21 Deepwood Drive, Hammonds Plains, NS
Meet at the Deepwood baseball field

🕗 Schedule Registration: 8:30 AM
Run Start: 9:00 AM
Wrap-Up: Around 12:00 PM

👟 Route Details A peaceful loop through the subdivision streets:
• 1 loop = 2K
• 2 loops = 4K
• 3 loops = 6K

Choose your pace, your distance, and your vibe!

♿ Accessibility Everyone’s welcome—bikes, rollerblades, wheelchairs, and leashed pups included. This is a community event for all.

🚨 Run Update – Bayers Lake Terry Fox Run 🚨

Due to the province-wide closure of trail systems caused by hot, dry weather conditions, our Bayers Lake Terry Fox Run—scheduled to take place on the Chain of Lakes Trail—is currently impacted.

These restrictions are expected to remain in place until October 15, or until conditions improve.

We know how meaningful this event is to our community, and we’re actively working on an alternative solution. 💙

We’re lacing up again to honour Terry’s legacy and raise funds for cancer research—Sunday, September 14th is the day, and the 5K Cafe in Bayers Lake is the place!

2025 is already in motion, and we’re excited to share our big goal: we're determined to top last year and make this year’s Bayers Lake Terry Fox Run even more successful! 🌟

But we need your help! This is only the second year for the run, and we’ve got lots of awareness to spread. Many people still don’t know about our run, so we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers from Beachville, Lakeside, Timberlea, and surrounding communities to help us get the word out, put together teams, and join us for the second annual Bayers Lake Terry Fox Run.

Together, we can make a difference and keep Terry Fox’s legacy alive. Let’s make this year’s run one to remember! 💪

We did it!!!! The first annual Bayers Lake Terry Fox run was a success!!!

We raised $1,425 at the run which brings our total as of today to $4,329! ❤️❤️

Our hearts are full and Drew and I are so grateful to everyone who registered, donated, and volunteered!

We will keep this page updated as we move into next year and start fundraising for the 2025 run!

GRAND TOTAL: $800 Raised for the Terry Fox Run - Bayers Lake!
Ellie also received $85 in personal donations.

Today, our family is filled with overwhelming joy and gratitude. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited to support our event and those who donated online. Special appreciation goes to those who baked delightful treats with love and care for others to enjoy.

A big thank you to the businesses that generously donated items for our BBQ/Bake Sale: Chester Building Supplies, Chester Foodland, Chester Basin Petro-Canada, Chester Irving, Hammonds Kwik Way, Island View Family Restaurant.

Terry Fox remains a beacon of hope for all Canadians. The Terry Fox Foundation tirelessly pursues Terry’s dream of a world free from cancer. Participating in events like ours and joining a Terry Fox Run in your community is crucial for cancer research. With my mom, mother-in-law, and other loved ones battling cancer, this cause is deeply personal and significant to me.
