LiUNA 837 Members Are Driving the Next Generation of Workplace Safety 🚨

The Institute for Safety, Wellness and Performance is visiting the LiUNA 837 Training Centre in Grimsby over the next 3 weeks (May 26 - June 12) — and this is your chance to take part in something truly innovative!

CISWP’s research team is collecting data that will shape the future design of personal protective equipment, tools, and gear — and they need real workers to make it happen.

Here’s what to expect:
🔹 Step into advanced tech, including:
• A full-body 3D scanner (captures 100+ body measurements in seconds!)
• Foot and hand scanning
• Body composition testing
• Strength assessments
• A short questionnaire

The whole process takes about 15 minutes, and participants will receive a $20 gift card as a thank-you.

We were proud to attend and sponsor this year’s Epic Jobs event — an incredible hands-on career exploration experience introducing students to opportunities in the skilled trades. 👷‍♂️🚧

Events like this are so important in helping inspire the next generation of skilled workers and showcasing the rewarding careers available in our industry. It was great connecting with students and sharing more about the opportunities available through LiUNA Local 837.

A special thank you to Bercon for their support in supplying the scissor lift for the event.

Together, we are helping build the future workforce. 💪

Member Spotlight: Marco 👷‍♂️
Marco has been working as a labourer since he was 18 years old, first getting into the trades through his father and building a career through hard work and dedication.

In this week’s Member Spotlight, Marco shares the advice he would give to those just starting out in the trades — show up on time (or even early), work hard, and treat everyone on site with kindness and respect.
He also reflects on the peace of mind that comes with having a strong pension plan and how being part of Local 837 allows him to look forward to spending more time with family in retirement.

Marco is also proud of the impact Local 837 continues to have in the community through the many donations and support initiatives that help those in need.
