🍁 Rest in Peace, Burdett “Burd” Sisler — 1915–2026
Canada has lost a true giant. Burdett “Burd” Sisler, the oldest known living Canadian and one of the world’s oldest Second World War veterans, has passed away at 110 years old — just two weeks shy of his 111th birthday.
Born in 1915, Burd came to Canada at the age of three and went on to serve his country as a radar technician in the Second World War. After the war, he dedicated nearly 30 years to the Canada Border Services Agency at the Peace Bridge — a lifetime of service in and out of uniform.
His son Norm reflected that Burd witnessed two world wars, two global pandemics, and two solar eclipses across his extraordinary life. When asked for his biggest piece of advice at 100 years old, he kept it simple: “Don’t take life too seriously, and don’t stress yourself out.”
He leaves behind five children, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren — a legacy as remarkable as the man himself.
We are grateful for his service, his example, and his life. Canada will not forget him. 🌿
Lest we forget.

Happy 103rd Birthday, George Brewster! 🇨🇦
On March 30th, we celebrate an extraordinary man — one of Canada’s last living Spitfire pilots from the Second World War.
At 102, George flew to the Netherlands to stand before the crowds whose freedom he helped defend 80 years ago. At 103, he still hits the dance floor and carries a heart full of love, gratitude, and purpose.
George enlisted before he was even old enough to serve — not because he was fearless, but because he couldn’t stand injustice. He flew 60 missions over Nazi-occupied Europe with 416 Squadron, witnessed the liberation of concentration camps, and came home with a vow: to never stop fighting for others.
“A life of service is the only life worth living.” — George Brewster
He overcame a stutter to recite poetry at remembrance ceremonies from memory. He wrote his memoir. He shows up for his community, week after week, decade after decade.
And when the music plays? He still dances — just like he did in the kitchen with his mom and sister all those years ago.
George may be one of the very last Canadians who flew a Spitfire in combat. When he is gone, a living link to one of history’s most defining moments goes with him. But his message endures:
“Love will overcome all kinds of obstacles.”
“Together we stand united as Canadians.”
Happy 103rd, George. 🌺🥂 You are not just a piece of history — you are proof of what one life, fully lived in service to others, can mean to the world.
