🇺🇦 Happy 35th Independence Day, Ukraine!

Today, the Ukrainian National Federation – Hamilton joins Ukrainians around the world in celebrating 35 years of Ukraine’s Independence.

To be Ukrainian is more than our language, traditions, music, or the blue and yellow flag. It is about who we are and how we treat one another. It is about helping those who need us, respecting each other even when we disagree, supporting our community, and standing together when it matters most.

Today, Ukraine needs our unity, kindness, strength, and support more than ever. Every good deed matters. Every helping hand matters. Every person who chooses to build rather than divide makes our Ukrainian community stronger.

Let us teach our children to be proud of their roots. Let us honour those who protect Ukraine’s freedom. And let us remember that wherever we live in the world, Ukraine needs us — and we need each other. 💙💛

A historic moment as Ukraine brings one of its heroes back home.

🔹 In Luxembourg, the remains of Colonel of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army and OUN leader Andriy Melnyk, along with his wife Sofia, were exhumed and will soon be reburied in Ukraine at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.

🔹 After Andriy Melnyk was laid to rest in Luxembourg in 1964, the Ukrainian diaspora spent decades preserving his memory and his fight for Ukraine’s independence.

🔹 During the years of Soviet rule, it was Ukrainians worldwide who safeguarded the graves and the names of those who fought for freedom.

Today, Ukraine is finally bringing its heroes home — made possible thanks to the lifelong work of the global Ukrainian community.

Історична подія. Україна повертає додому своїх героїв.

🔹 У Люксембурзі ексгумували останки полковника Армії УНР та одного з лідерів ОУН Андрія Мельника і його дружини Софії. Незабаром їх перепоховають в Україні, на Національному військовому меморіальному кладовищі.

🔹 Після поховання Андрія Мельника в Люксембурзі у 1964 році українська громада за кордоном десятиліттями берегла пам’ять про нього та боротьбу за незалежність України.

🔹 В роки, коли Україна була під радянським поневоленням, саме світове українство зберігало могили й імена борців за свободу.

Сьогодні Україна повертає своїх героїв додому, і має таку можливість завдяки довголітній праці української громади.
