Have you taught a de-streamed Grade 9 or 10 class in the past two years?

wants to hear about your experience!

Five years after the province implemented de-streaming, teachers continue to raise concerns about class sizes, classroom complexity, and the supports available to help all students succeed.

Your feedback will help strengthen OSSTF/FEESO's advocacy for public education, identify implementation gaps, and support our work at the bargaining table.

Complete the 10–12 minute survey by June 30: https://bit.ly/4anZc2b

For a government that purports to value stability for students, one needs to ask why didn't they accept OSSTF's offer to begin negotiations before they were legislatively required to do so...nonetheless, today's the day!

Today, AEFO, Elementary Educators, OECTA - Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, OSBCU - CSCSO, and each served notice to bargain.

Students and families deserve a safe, stable, well-supported, and fully resourced publicly funded education system. Bargaining is one of the most powerful tools we have to make that happen.

Teachers and education workers see firsthand the increasing pressures facing classrooms and schools every day, including growing student needs, violence in schools, inadequate supports for students with special education needs, large class sizes, insufficient staffing, and challenges in retaining and recruiting teachers and education workers.

Students, teachers, and education workers should not have to rely on bargaining to secure the basic conditions needed for safe and successful schools.

We urge the provincial government and employer bargaining agencies to come to the table as soon as possible, prepared to engage constructively in negotiations focused on ensuring every student has access to the supports, resources, and learning conditions they need to succeed. Ontario cannot continue through another year of underfunding, understaffing, and instability.

PRIDE month is not a once-a-year event; rather, it's a reminder and an opportunity to work toward creating a world were all are welcome and all belong.

Let's come together to celebrate the diversity, courage, and resilience of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and raise political awareness of current issues they face.

Dan Sheeler and Holly Van Der Marel will be attending today on behalf of District 21 T/OT members. Every worker deserves to be safe at work - full stop, no excuses.

On June 1 every year, injured and ill workers, advocates, and labour activists gather in cities across the province to mark Injured Workers’ Day. We rally on this day to celebrate the gains made through united action, raise current concerns, and remind governments we cannot be ignored.

Injured Workers’ Day commemorates June 1, 1983, when over three thousand injured workers descended on Queen’s Park and forced a government committee looking at major changes to Ontario’s workers’ compensation system to conduct a public hearing on the steps of the Legislature.

A list of events both in person and virtual taking place across the province can be found on the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) website https://ofl.ca/event/save-the-date-injured-workers-day/
