Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation, as part of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, provides vital funding to enable the best possible patient care at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. The Foundation inspires and motivates gifts that fund medical equipment and patient amenities, innovative research initiatives, essential redevelopment of clinical care spaces, and the education and training of health care providers. Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre is one of Ontario’s most comprehensive cancer centres and the only site in south-central Ontario treating all cancers. It is one of three centres in Ontario providing all forms of stem cell transplants supporting patients with blood cancers. It is also home to the Regional Cancer Program, which coordinates cancer care with partners based across Hamilton, Brant, Haldimand, Niagara and Burlington. Hamilton Health Sciences is the only hospital system in Ontario providing specialty health care for the full spectrum of life’s journey, from pre-birth to end-of-life. It serves a region of more than 2.3 million residents and provides highly specialized care to patients from outside the region as a provincial referral centre. Hamilton Health Sciences is a leader in many specialized acute and chronic care programs for pediatric and adult patients across its sites. It is also a renowned academic-teaching hospital and an international leader in hospital-based research.

Five years ago, Charles and Margaret Juravinski forever altered the health-research landscape in Hamilton by establishing the Juravinski Research Institute (JRI), a partnership between Hamilton Health Sciences, McMaster University and St. Joseph's Healthcare and Foundation

We are celebrating this milestone with a new $5.1-million gift to the JRI from the Juravinski Foundation and by dedicating a tree at each of our sites in the Juravinskis’ memory – a living tribute to their enduring legacy.

From dread to immeasurable joy: Tom's journey with kidney cancer has been one of hope, gratitude, and the extraordinary care of Dr. Lalani and the team at Juravinski Cancer Centre. Facing the uncertainty of his diagnosis, Tom found solace in the warmth and compassion of his caregivers, paving the way for precious moments he thought he might never see.

Today, as Tom continues his fight against cancer, he finds himself eagerly anticipating the role he'll play in his granddaughter's life—a dream made possible by the expert care he's received. His heartfelt appreciation knows no bounds, expressed through both words and action with a donation honouring Dr. Lalani (pictured) and the entire medical staff.
