SIMPLY AFFORDABLE WORKSHOP
On Friday May 8th, a group of Entente District 13 members assembled to create some tasty food. 8 people and the workshop leader spent the morning preparing food. The participants were given some cooking tips along with a booklet with other preparation hints and the recipes they made during the session. It was all hands-on deck and the meals were prepared. There were two soups, two main courses, a salad and two desserts. Each person was given a choice of what they wanted to prepare. All they had to do was follow the directions on the green recipe cards. Everyone had a chance to taste the soups, main courses and desserts and sat down at the formally set table to enjoy the meal. Many thanks to those who registered for the workshop. The evaluations were very positive, and it seems that another cooking workshop has been suggested. Keep checking the District 13, Entente website www.district13.entente.ca for the next foody experience sometime in the fall.
These photos show the preparation.

PLEASE NOTE:
The Lawn Bowling session at Roselawn for June 23rd has been postponed and will be rebooked at a date to be determined.
In the meantime here is some information regarding Lawn Bowling.
Lawn bowling (or bowls) is a precision sport where players roll biased (asymmetrical) balls, or “bowls,” on a grass or artificial green, aiming to get them closest to a smaller white target ball called a “jack”. Played in teams or singles, the game requires strategy and finesse to navigate the curved path of the bowls.
You may be an experienced lawn bowler, or this could be the start of a whole new recreational endeavour. I tried it last year for the first time and have registered again this year. I bowl on Mondays and Friday mornings when I am available. There are no expectations to be there every week. Teams are made up from those who come that morning.
It is great way to spend the summer months: out in the fresh air, gaining some exercise and best of all making some new friends.
