“Your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” — Gospel of Matthew 6:4
On Ash Wednesday, Jesus draws us into the hidden place of the heart. Lent is not spiritual theater. It is a quiet return. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are not performances for approval, but pathways back to the Father who already sees, already knows, already loves.
Lent begins not with outward display, but with inward surrender — a simple, sincere desire to be renewed in love.
As reflected in the words attributed to Pope Leo XIV:
“We return not because God delights in punishment, but because He delights in restoration. Repentance is grace before it is effort. Even our turning is empowered by the One who calls us home.
So let the ashes preach to you: You are fragile—so trust in God. You are mortal—so seek what is eternal. You are sinful—so cling to mercy. You are dust—yet beloved dust.”
🙏 Lord, as we begin this Lenten journey, help us seek You in simplicity, honesty, and hope. Shape what only You can see, and lead us home to Your heart.
“Your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” Matthew 6:4
On this Ash Wednesday, Jesus invites us into the heart of Lent, not as a performance, but as a quiet return to God. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are meant to draw us closer to the Father, shaping our hearts in humility and trust.
Lent begins not with what others see, but with what God sees: a sincere desire to be renewed in love.
🙏 Lord, as we begin this Lenten journey, help us seek You in simplicity, honesty, and hope.
