People First Fundraising Solutions

People First Fundraising Solutions We help non-profits, municipalities and organizations develop sustainable fundraising solutions so they may build healthy and vibrant communities.

People First Fundraising Solutions (formerly People First Resource Development) works with community-based organizations, grassroots groups and municipalities to develop sustainable fundraising strategies that safeguard the long-term viability of their programs. By helping them to create and nurture a passionate and committed support base of stakeholders, People First strives to empower organizati

ons, groups and locales to acquire the resources and tools they need to achieve their missions and build healthy communities. We accomplish this through four (4) primary ways: 1) Introducing organizations to new revenue streams so they may diversify their funding base and reduce their reliance on major sources; 2) Identifying and optimizing support from current funding sources like major gifts from individuals and private foundations; 3) Working with board directors and staff to develop a stronger connection with their mission and vision; 4) Helping organizations to embrace effective donor stewardship practices to strengthen their stakeholders' affinity for their mission and vision. During his 22-year career in fund development, Mike Paquet has helped several community-based and grassroots non-profit groups throughout Southern Ontario to implement long-term sustainable fundraising and resource development programs. Driven by the concept that “people give to people”, Mike has enabled several organizations to discover the enormous potential of major gift fundraising. Currently, Mike is the Principal of People First Fundraising Solutions and remains steadfastly committed to guiding non-profit groups towards long-term viability by emphasizing the importance of cultivating strong relations with individual and institutional donors in the community.

There’s a special energy tonight—a mix of anticipation, generosity, and hope. While the holidays bring gifts wrapped in paper, Giving Tuesday brings gifts wrapped in purpose and compassion.

At its heart, Giving Tuesday is a celebration of our values. The organizations we choose to support reflect what matters most to us—kindness, justice, community, education, the environment, creativity, and more. When we give, we’re not just making donations; we’re expressing what we believe in.

We’re often moved to support causes because of the stories we hear—stories of resilience, progress, heartbreak, and transformation. These stories spark empathy and help us see the real impact behind every mission.

And here’s the best part: when you give on Giving Tuesday, you help create new stories. Your generosity might become the reason someone receives support, finds hope, or gets a fresh start. You help turn challenges into powerful chapters of change.

As we head into Giving Tuesday, take a moment to reflect:
✨ Which causes moved you this year?
✨ Which stories inspired you?
✨ Where can your generosity spark the next chapter of impact?

Choose the charities that will help create the greatest stories of tomorrow—stories of hope, change, and lives transformed. Give with purpose.

This Giving Tuesday, consider making one of the most underrated—and highest-impact—gifts you can give: designate your donation to a charity’s fund development (fundraising) department.

I know it goes against the old idea that donors shouldn’t fund “overhead.” But investing in fundraising capacity isn’t overhead—it’s impact multiplication.

Here’s why it matters:

🔹 It grows your gift.
A strong development team generates more revenue for programs, staff, and mission-critical work. Your donation becomes a force multiplier.

🔹 It builds sustainability.
Development professionals cultivate a reliable donor base, giving the organization the stability to plan long-term and take bigger steps toward its mission.

🔹 It improves your donor experience.
When fundraising teams are supported, donors receive better communication, clearer impact reporting, and opportunities that align with their values.

By designating your gift to fund development, you’re not just supporting a department—you’re strengthening the entire organization’s ability to create impact for years to come.

This Giving Tuesday, will you designate your gift to a fund development department?
Your choice could be the catalyst that helps a nonprofit grow, thrive, and deepen its impact.

Expressing sincere thanks to our donors is vital, but demonstrating how their contributions make communities healthier, happier, and more vibrant is what ensures their continued support.

Saying “thank you” is essential in donor relations—but it’s only the beginning. True stewardship means helping donors see the difference their gifts make.
