Our store was intentionally designed to provide our friends the opportunity to chose what they like for themselves.

Providing dignity to our friends is a huge part of what we do here at Helping Hands.

If you would like to help us continue to reduce barriers for our friends facing poverty, we invite you to give at this link: https://hhsmhamilton.com/nobarriers/💛💙

Meet Sarah 💙

When Sarah was 19, she moved into supportive housing while navigating mental health challenges. She worked, paid rent, and was trying to build stability.

Sarah was prescribed two medications that negatively interacted with each other, severely affecting her mental health. Instead of receiving support, she was asked to leave her housing.

Suddenly, Sarah was living on the streets in Hamilton and Toronto. She had never lived alone before and didn’t know how to survive without support.

Homelessness is often the result of systems failing people when support is needed most. No one should have to navigate hardship alone.

Follow next week for Part 2 of Sarah’s story.
