For Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary and gender diverse people who have legally changed their name, there’s an important thing to know: changing your legal name does not automatically update the Voters List.
If you updated your name with Elections Ontario by July 14, 2026, the change should be reflected on Hamilton’s Voters List. Starting September 1, you can check the City’s Voters List and, if necessary, apply to have your information corrected.
You can also update your information, including your name, at a polling station on any voting day.
