*NEW WORKSHOP* Saturday, May 2nd, 1-2pm.

Title of this month's 'EmpowHERing Me' workshop:
"Viking Moms"

The concept for workshop is the Scandanavian idea of hygge - the closest definition in English would be coziness/comfort and how you would apply that to young children, such as nature walks, observation of the beauty found there, using found objects to do crafts with your children, picnics, and other ideas that are no or low cost to ease children out of their trauma and build stronger bonds through small but consistent positive rituals both the parent and child could share.

Location: YWCA Safety & Support Hub, 21 Hunter St E. Unit 103

*All workshops led by members of the survivor advisory group WAVES (Women Against Violence Empowering Survivors). All women are welcome!*

April 8th is widely recognized as the International Day of Pink, which is significant to Indigenous peoples in Canada as a day to stand against bullying, racism, and “lateral violence” (bullying within a community) while promoting “lateral kindness”.

While the main Canadian “Pink Shirt Day” occurs in February, the April 8th International Day of Pink was specifically founded to fight bullying, homophobia, and transphobia. Its significance to Indigenous communities 💕
