Tetralogy of Fallot for Life

Tetralogy of Fallot for Life Tetralogy of Fallot for Life (TOF LIFE) is an international, multi-centre observational research stu Currently, close to 40,000 babies are affected per year.

Tetralogy of Fallot, or TOF, is one of the most common congenital heart conditions and accounts for 7-10% of all congenital heart defects. Around the world, 4 out of every 10,000 babies will be diagnosed with TOF. Most babies born with this condition would require a heart operation to repair these defects. TOF is a life-long condition and patients often require follow-up even after the operation t

o monitor for any complications. Many variations of the repair operation are practised around the world. Recent evidence demonstrates that the strategy followed during the repair operation can have effects on the health of the child's heart in the long run. The tetralogy of Fallot for Life (TOF LIFE) study
investigates the impact of the repair operation on the participant's heart at 2 years following this repair operation. TOF LIFE is an international, multi-centre research study aiming to enroll over 3,000 patients with tetralogy of Fallot from children's heart surgery centres around the world.
