Looking for a family doctor? Your next pizza box might be able to help! 🍕

The Hamilton Family Health Team is excited to partner with Binbrook Pizza to help spread the word about our patient attachment services. Keep an eye out for our "Do You Need a Family Doctor?" stickers on pizza boxes throughout the community!

While dropping off stickers, we had the chance to meet the amazing team at Binbrook Pizza, including Lydia, a third-year nursing student at Brock University. Between serving up great pizza and studying to become a nurse, Lydia is working toward her dream of one day becoming a flight nurse with Ornge. Talk about aiming high!

A big thank you to Nick, Sam, Lydia, and the entire Binbrook Pizza team for supporting this community initiative. Partnerships like these help us connect with residents where they are - sometimes over a slice of delicious pizza.

And speaking of pizza... our Patient Attachment Team can confirm it was absolutely delicious!

It's officially June: which means it's time to wish our community a Happy Pride Month! 🌈

To celebrate, we've profiled Robyn Obermeyer, our Lead for Communications & Public Relations and one of the facilitators of our organization-wide Positive Spaces training: a foundational training course developed in collaboration with and to support staff in creating inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environments for 2SLGBTQIA+ patients, staff, and community members.

"As a facilitator for Positive Spaces, I love being able to support important and sometimes tough conversations. Our goal with this training is to provide a space for staff to ask questions without judgment, challenge their assumptions and biases, and learn 2SLGBTQIA+ history and present context that they may not have heard before. Participants are often surprised to learn how prevalent homophobia and transphobia are today and how deeply these experiences impact how 2SLGBTQIA+ folks navigate the healthcare system."

During National Physiotherapy Month, we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate our amazing physio team for their recent achievements! 👏

Since November 2025, the HFHT Physiotherapy team has participated in the Healthcare Excellence Canada () Right Care Challenge. Through this initiative, the team focused on connecting patients to the right care at the right time—helping reduce avoidable Emergency Department (ED) visits.

Since launching this work, the team has received the Right Care Challenge Registration Award, the Impact Journey Award and the Collective Progress Award. 🏅

This achievement reflects a true team effort. Special thanks to all those that made this work possible for patient care, including our incredible team of dedicated Physiotherapists and Shared Services who were involved in the project.

It's National Nursing Week! 🎉

This year’s theme is The Power of Nurses to Transform Health: a reminder that nursing leadership and everyday care can change outcomes for patients, families, and communities. From bedside to boardroom, nurses improve safety, strengthen access, and champion patient-centred care.

On March 25, we celebrated the launch of our second clinical space at Health Care at Eva Rothwell Centre. Because of the generosity of our donors and support of our partners, patients who have gone years without a primary care provider are now attached to an interdisciplinary primary care team.

As Liz Merolli, Chair of the Eva Rothwell Board, shared: "Health and wellness have always been core pillars of our programming. Today, with the opening of this dedicated health and counselling clinic we take another meaningful step forward."

Our services include direct primary care, led by our full-time nurse practitioner and two part-time family physicians, both mental health counselling and consult psychiatry – including for children and youth, registered dietetics, clinical pharmacy, and community navigation.

"If you are born and raised in this part of Hamilton, you are expected to live upwards of 20 years less than someone born and raised in Ancaster. Addressing that must serve as our shared, long-term clarion call." — Dr. Brian McKenna, HFHT Family Physician.

We now have 740 patients registered with new arrivals almost every week. Our expanded space sets us up to reach our goal of attaching 1,000 additional patients.

Our friendly team will be stationed outside 123 James St. N. (sandwiched between our awesome neighbours Cowabunga Pizza and ! 🍕 🍫 ) from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. to help you get connected to a family doctor accepting patients in your area.

Photos are from our booth at art crawl last summer - we had a blast and can't wait to connect with our local Hamilton community again at one of our favourite events of the year! 💫
