YWCA Hamilton’s ENCORE program is a FREE program for women who have experienced breast cancer, offering gentle exercise, learning opportunities, practical advice, and a supportive community of fellow survivors to support you beyond your diagnosis.
Because you don’t have to navigate the journey alone.

On Friday, October 9, a Ballot-on-Demand poll will be available at YWCA Hamilton’s Downtown Location, 75 MacNab St. S.
9 a.m.–12 p.m. in the Seniors’ Active Living Centre
1–4 p.m. in the Café

Eligible voters from any Ward across the City of Hamilton, including YWCA staff, clients and surrounding community members are welcome.

Each voter needs one piece of photo ID showing your name and qualifying address. If you do not have a permanent address, Elections Staff may be able to support you to cast your ballot.

Today, we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A day to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, their families and communities and to recognize the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the residential school system.

In recent years we have seen resurgences of anti-Indigenous racism and residential school denialism. We must do everything in our power to combat these notions and continue to make a commitment to solidarity. In recognition of the importance of today, staff at YWCA Hamilton gathered for a screening of “The Good Canadian.” a documentary that powerfully reminds us that these events are not just historical, they are ongoing and systemic.

YWCA Hamilton is on a humble journey toward reconciliation. We invite you to join us in learning about the land, the experiences of Indigenous peoples and the systems that continue to shape people’s lives.

The sold-out Women's Leadership Luncheon brought together women and allies from across industries for an afternoon of connection, learning, and inspiring conversations during Gender Equality Week in Canada.

Attendees heard from Jenn Harper who shared her journey and her insights on building Cheekbone Beauty, serving as CEO of a purpose driven business and championing Indigenous women's leadership.

Our YWCA Hamilton Teams across the organization are always proud to participate at Take Back The Night alongside survivors, advocates, community partners and people across Hamilton to say clearly: everyone deserves to move through our neighbourhoods and communities free from violence and fear.

Thanks to everyone who played Red Flag/Green Flag with The Safety + Support Hub team at our booth!

Ending sexual and gender-based violence takes all of us. It takes listening to survivors, challenging the systems that allow violence to persist, and building communities where safety, dignity and belonging are the standard.

Congratulations to our collaborators SACHA on another memorable evening.

Barbara’s life mattered. Her family’s voice matters.

The YWCA Ontario Coalition, representing 10 YWCAs serving almost 50,000 people across the province, is standing with Barbara Kentner’s family, Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation and First Nations leadership in calling for accountability following the decision to grant full parole to Brayden Bushby.

We have written to the Minister of Indigenous Affairs and the Parole Board of Canada calling for stronger accountability and transparency in federal corrections and parole, meaningful mechanisms for families to raise concerns, and culturally safe support for First Nations victims and families.

Indigenous families should not have to carry the additional burden of navigating systems that have historically failed to protect them.
