Hamilton 548 Local Executive Members Terry Langley, Michelle Byron, Kathy Boudreau, Jeeva Dhillon, Randy Drees and Dave Taylor, stopped by the National Steel Car picket line this afternoon to drop off a strike support cheque for United Steelworkers Local 7135. USW Local President Fred Crowder, was extremely grateful to hear about the motion passed at our General Membership Meeting this past Saturday and sent his thanks to the Membership of Hamilton Local 548. Also on the line was OFL President Laura Spencer Walton, Members of CUPE Local 7800, Hamilton Centre MPP Robin Lennox, Sudbury MPP Jamie West, and members of Hamilton & District Labour Council. It was great to see such an outpouring of support and solidarity!!

Just wanted to send out a huge thanks to External Grievance Officer Kathy Boudreau and 2nd Vice President Randy Drees for going above and beyond today when they both sacrificed a day of their annual leave to ensure we had quorum for the local executive meeting. The business of the Local and the needs of the Membership doesn't stop when people are off. In the face of an escalating trend of relentless attacks by a ruthless employer, they prioritized the needs of the Membership before self and I wanted to personally acknowledge their efforts and dedication in doing so.

Members of the Local Executive and Local Postal Banking Committee decided to celebrate May Day by hitting the Federal building with our information picket and postal banking flyer distribution. From there, we moved to the TD Bank head office and then the RBC head office in the downtown core to continue our May Day celebration. Incredible feedback from the public in support of our postal banking campaign. The first of many actions planned over the coming months!!
