On January 27, 2013, we lost my Mom to cancer way too soon. So, in honour of the 13th anniversary of her passing, I've decided to knit every day in February to support the Canadian Cancer Society. Please consider supporting me by making a donation!

In trusted partnership with donors and volunteers, we improve the lives of all those affected by cancer through world-class research, transformative advocacy and compassionate support.

It's Wedding Season! We've come up with the perfect gift for that couple who already owns a toaster, microwave oven and everything else they need to start their married life together.

We LOVE clutter-free gift ideas, and are very excited to partner with Rod Frketich Photography to offer what we consider the perfect wedding gift.

The recipients can choose between a session working with a Professional Organizer or a session with a Professional Photographer.

1. Newlyweds are often overwhelmed with 'stuff' as they may be setting up a home as a couple for the first time, or combining two separate households into one. They also may need help organizing all those other wedding gifts they don't know exactly how to store. A 4-hour organizing session with a professional organizer may be ideal.

2. If they have their living situation organized and functioning, being able to document this chapter of new beginnings as a way of preserving memories is precious. The couple can choose between a 2-hour shoot, plus editing or a 3-hour session of photo instruction. They can learn how to use those buttons on your camera and store your photo's effectively, from a professional.

This offer is valid until October 31st, 2025. For more information or to purchase your gift certificate, get in touch today!

What do you do with all those old photos? It's a real dilemma for many families who want to maintain a connection to their roots, but don't have the space or desire to store them. Inheriting old dusty photo albums or large boxes of images of people you've never met often comes with an even bigger emotional burden than just inheriting a beloved tea set. It can somehow feel just wrong to throw images of loved ones into the trash.

When sorting through your photo's keeping these tips in mind should help you reduce clutter and make decisions.

1. Photos do not have to remain in the frames. Frames are bulky and, if in good shape, are donatable. It's ok to remove the image from the frame.

2. Albums were (and are) often used as a way of 'organizing' memories from a trip or time period. Many old albums are actually damaging your photos. Acid-free photo boxes are a better way of keeping images safe, and they take up less space in your home.

3. How many images of one person standing on a beach do you need? Professional photographers don't keep every image they take; they choose the best ones and let the rest go. Keep the images that show personality or the ones where you feel your loved ones are speaking to you. The rest are clutter.

We think digitizing your photo's is a great option and there are different ways to go about it.

If you are looking for help, or more information about different options about what to do with old photographs. Feel free to get in touch!

A walk in nature is a proven antidote to improve your overall quality of life. It is good for your physical well-being and your mental health. Some studies suggest that a simple walk in nature can help restore focus and attention after a bout of mental fatigue.

What if I were to tell you that your home can and should feel like a place where you can relax, unwind, and de-stress?

The art of placement isn't just about making a space look pretty or tidy, although that is an added bonus. It's about finding what you need when you need it, without that item causing clutter.

Do you find yourself searching for items in your home often?

Do you buy things you may already own, because it's easier than trying to locate them in your home?

Do you want to tackle a project, but the thought of getting all the equipment out and putting it all away again feels too overwhelming?

Do you go on walks as an escape from the clutter in your home?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above, then your clutter is costing you.

I'm always happy to chat to see how I can help.

I am absolutely sure my Mom is somewhere in heaven laughing her head off at the fact that people actually pay me to organize their homes.

Growing up I was considered more of a creative type. I played piano and sang (hence my Music Degree). I loved all the 'granny' crafts and knitted, crocheted and quilted long before it was 'cool'. I even dove into furniture restoration at the age of 13, eventually getting a College diploma in Furniture Production and Design.

Organization was definitely not my first love. However, I learned fairly early that if I wanted to enjoy all of the things I loved to do, I had to be organized.

Being organized to me is not necessarily 'neat and tidy,' but it can be. I also LOVE a clean countertop. Knowing what you own and how to retrieve things easily when you want them, to me is what organization is all about.

I'd love to stay connected. How about joining my mailing list so I can send tips and special offers on occasion? I promise I won't clutter your inbox. https://mailchi.mp/80ac51fcc277/mailing

When I get asked, 'what's your method' when working with clients. The answer is 'well, it depends'. It's not an easy question to answer, because no one 'set' method works for everyone.

The first step when meeting a new client is listening. I take a little time to understand your frustrations and goals for your home, as well as getting a grasp on what items matter most. I also take some time to assess the space you have and what you have in it.

We all have patterns and values, and so implementing a system for you may not work for someone else.

Every project is different, which is one of the big reasons I love my job!

Yes you can have a well organized and completely functional kitchen! The 3 main things to consider are these:

1. Zone - where you do specific tasks and where you store items.

2. Flow - how you move from one task to the next. We aim to have as few literal 'steps' as possible.

3. Task breakdown - how you do these tasks, and being able to grab the items required easily.

Also to take into consideration are these:

1. Space restrictions.

2. Style of cooking you do the most.

3. The equipment you require to actually enjoy your kitchen.

You don't have to own every gadget there is. If you use that gadget regularly then of course, keep it. However, if you may only use it once a year, can you borrow it from a friend or neighbour? Sharing 'occasional' kitchen gadgets and food, is a great way to connect with neighbours.

BTW, people who cook from scratch regularly often have less clutter. Why? Because they buy whole food ingredients that don't come with packaging, and they use their kitchen regularly and so have incentive to clean up and put things away.
