Giving thanks through learning, connection, and community.

As part of our Thanksgiving celebrations, we were delighted to welcome new and returning families to the first ISANS Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) parent meeting of the year.

The gathering provided an opportunity for parents to connect, share experiences, and explore ways to support their children's learning and development at home. Through HIPPY, newcomer families gain the tools, confidence, and knowledge to foster early literacy, school readiness, and lifelong learning.

To mark the occasion, families received children's books generously donated through the Scholastic Canada Possible Fund, helping create even more opportunities for reading, learning, and family engagement at home.

We are grateful for the families who bring their enthusiasm and commitment to their children's success, and for the partners who help make these opportunities possible.

Together, we are building stronger foundations for children, supporting newcomer families, and creating more connected and welcoming communities across Nova Scotia.

On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impacts on First Nations, Inuit and Métis families and communities.

At ISANS, this day is an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on the history and lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples, and to consider how we can contribute to relationships grounded in respect, understanding and belonging.

As we share these moments from across our ISANS offices and teams, we recognize that building understanding and belonging is an ongoing journey one that calls for reflection, respect and collective action.
