Trades Pipeline Project

Trades Pipeline Project A dynamic program for Vulnerable Youth seeking careers in the Trades. TTPP is part of a lifelong dream, created, developed, and managed by Dr. Lena Walker.

Youth cannot pursue what they do not fully comprehend, and what they cannot access. There exists a gap between educational institutions and employment opportunities, especially for vulnerable youth (those falling through the cracks). The Trades Pipeline is an appropriate mechanism to channel youth toward these opportunities. It will supply valuable information and supportive direction, thereby clo

sing the gap and funneling youth into successful futures. The primary goal of the Trades Pipeline Project is to provide vulnerable youth with instruction, resources, mentorship, and experience in the Trades. By helping them make informed decisions in the pursuit of viable career options, we help them secure their futures. The program is comprised of three Phases:

Phase 1: Education
Youth participate in structured class time and workshops designed to enhance and promote employment competencies. Phase 2: Mentorship
The Trades Pipeline staff, together with guest speakers and role models in the field, provide leadership through a participatory model. Phase3: Apprenticeship
Students experience first hand four sectors of the trades through field work placements. The Project will concentrate on five key career competencies:
1. Career Development
2. Job Attainment
3. Job Survival
4. Basic Skills
5. Personal Skills
