Anika (not her real name) came to Canada to go to school. As I told Anika the Good Neighbour Story where we do not make any one special, we include all people as neighbours who simply want to be accepted as a person without labels - the story brought up emotions with her. She told me this is all she wanted, just to be accepted as an ordinary person and how lonely she feels being excluded. That is why she has joined Good Neighbour Builders as one of our many professional volunteers. She wants other people of difference to be included in their neighbourhood as just another Good Neighbour

A few of the 28 hashtag
hashtag from across Canada got together for an old fashioned cornboil in Nova Scotia where they got to meet each other in person for the first time. These are the people who make it possible for it to be normal for neighbours to know each other and look out for each other> a new approach to hashtag
hashtag development.

It's the youth of Dieppe who are leading the Good Neighbour Project in Dieppe NB. 18 immigrant youth from Africa are the people who are making it normal for neighbours to know each other and look out for each other.
Here they are brain storming ideas on how they are going to make it happen.

Tina Murphy launched the Good Neighbour Builders Project in Bible Hill NS. Tons of people stated they want to be a Good Neighbour and be part of making Bible Hill a Good Neighbour Community.

The award winning team at Dalhousie Enactus is planning on how to scale their efforts so young people in junior high have the connections, caring and support they need to become Good Neighbours as they move into adulthood.

I was recently invited by Shirley Edwards to participate in I AM HUMANITY conference hosted by Jerry Fishman. The two big messages - we need each other, no one is an island and we need women to be our leaders out of the mess that our world is involved in.

I totally agree. Two of the keynote guests were a Palestinian woman and an Israeli woman working together for peace and being good neighbours with each other.

At Good Neighbour Builders, it is 80% women who are making the change that we need. Thank you to all the women who are working to make our world better for our children and grandchildren.
