🚗💛 Child Passenger Safety Week 2026: Safe from the Start!

From September 19–27, 2026, Child Safety Link and partners across Atlantic Canada are celebrating Child Passenger Safety Week, a time to highlight how we can help keep children safe on every journey. As part of the week, Family SOS will be hosting a Car Seat Clinic to support families and caregivers with child passenger safety.

👶 Whether you're preparing for your baby's first ride or making sure your child's car seat still fits, we're here to help!

At our clinic, families can get support with:
✔️ Choosing the right car seat
✔️ Checking car seat fit and installation
✔️ Learning about safe use and best practices
✔️ Getting answers to your child passenger safety questions

Because safety starts with the very first ride and continues with every ride after.

We are delighted to announce that registration is now open for Family SOS’s Healthy Kidz After-School Program for 2026/2027. The program is completely free of charge!

👉Kidz - Ages 5-8 will meet Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
👉Kidz -Ages 9-11 will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
👉Teenz - Tuesday & Thursday from 5 PM- 7 PM
👉Starts September 7th 2026

Our Summer Kick Off BBQ was a huge success! 🌭💛

Thank you to everyone who came and helped make the day feel so full of community. We are especially grateful for RCR Hospitality Group for donating their BBQ, so we could cook 300 Halal Hot Dogs.

🌻 Summer Nights in the Community Garden! 🌻

Join us in the Family SOS Community Garden for a summer full of creativity, connection, and family-friendly fun.

🎬 Outdoor Movie Nights (Family SOS Backyard)
Bring your own blankets and chairs — we’ll provide the popcorn and a family-friendly movie! Movie nights will take place in the Family SOS backyard.
📅 July 8 at 9:00 p.m.
📅 August 5 at 8:35 p.m.
Tickets are required. Stop by the garden the Monday or Tuesday before the movie during drop-in hours to pick up a ticket and vote for the movie.

🎨 Art in the Garden
Bring your own craft or use our supplies to create something beautiful! Colouring, rock painting, bracelet making, and more will be available.

This spring, we were lucky to have a few students from the Social Services program at NSCC's Ivany Campus come do their volunteer placement at Family SOS. They went above and beyond and even made us this fun sign for our community garden.

Our friends at Chebucto Connections, made the connection, I guess they're good at that 🙂. Thanks to all for the continued support in helping us build community programs and spaces.

🐝 Happy World Bee Day – May 20! 🌼Our volunteers have been bee-sy getting the garden ready for a new season of growth. From preparing garden beds to cleaning up outdoor spaces, their hard work is helping us create a welcoming space where our community can learn, grow, and connect. 🌱 Bees play such an important role in our food systems and gardens, and today is a great reminder of how connected we all are to nature.
