Goalball Rules 2026

The current Goalball Rule Book is valid until December 31, 2025.

We are inviting the community to submit rule suggestions by September 30, 2025 to:

The IBSA Goalball Sport Committee and the Rules Advisory Group will review all proposals. Final decisions are expected by the end of November, with approval from the IBSA Executive Board in December 2025.

The updated rules will come into effect January 1, 2026.

As we wrap up the IBSA Americas Championship in São Paulo, we return home as fourth place finishers and our heads held high, ready to move into this Paralympic quad with renewed purpose and belief.

This tournament was filled with defining moments — by defeating Team USA for the first time in over 10 years and finishing first in our pool, to facing the adversity of losing two players to injury in the semifinals. While we fell short of a podium finish, we accomplished our number one goal: qualifying for the 2026 World Championships in China.

It was a powerful start to this new quad toward LA 2028. We welcomed two athletes and two coaches making their international debuts, adding fresh energy and depth to our program.

Now, we recover, regroup, and refocus. The work doesn’t stop here — we’re more determined than ever to raise the bar, push our limits, and represent Canada with pride on the world stage.

Let’s keep building. 🇨🇦
