Good Bones Dog Rescue - Rescue, Rehab, Rehome Foster home-based nonprofit dog rescue providing responsible, screened adoption services.

Good Bones Dog Rescue is a totally volunteer foster based ethical, responsible, not for profit dog rescue. We raise funds to meet our dogs needs through on going fundraising efforts and any donations from the public as well as charging an adoption fee to off set medical costs. Our Mission is to provide a safe haven for dogs through a network of trained, experienced like minded volunteers to bring into rescue locally and within the east coast of Nova Scotia, any owner surrendered, abandoned or impounded dogs of any size or breed needing our help. All rescued dogs will receive health and temperament testing upon intake then are taken to a vet to be examined. The dogs are placed into fully screened, trained, experienced, foster homes that are hand selected to meet the individual needs of each dog. Whilst in our care all dogs undergo any medical treatment required to restore their health before an adoption can take place. We also utilize the services of various respected, experienced positive reinforcement, force free trainers to teach us the necessary skills to best address any training needs a dog presents with . It''s our goal for all dogs to become confident and set up for life long success when adopted into a loving, responsible home where they will be safe and loved.

Happy Thursday. Please be advised of an update regarding Oakley. His neutering and microchipping procedures were successful, though he remains understandably disoriented following the operation. He handled the experience well and remained cooperative throughout. He will be subject to post-operative restrictions, specifically regarding the limitation of running and jumping, which may prove challenging to enforce. His foster mom has treat dispensing toys and puzzles to help enrich his life as he recovers.

I visited Pink and her wonderful foster mother today. Foster mom wouldn't be on camera so, your stuck with me, sorry about that. . Given the high cost of fuel and the unpredictable weather in Nova Scotia, I ensured they were well-provided with an ample supply of food and treats.

Pink is such an amazing dog. She is incredibly sweet and gazes softly into your eyes and, I am certain, into your heart as well. I could not stop thinking about her and her foster mother during my drive home; she is one of those dogs that leaves a lasting impact, and the strong connection between the two of them was truly evident.

We have successfully verified Nixon’s lineage as a cross between a Siberian Husky/Malamute dam and a Greenland Dog, a combination well-suited for sledding if he shows a keen interests. This insight enables us to facilitate a placement that aligns with Nixon's breed-specific needs and balances what we know to be his emotional needs and preferences. We recommend a home environment that offers consistent structure, as huskies require guidance to adapt to the home's expectations, or they take over and do whatever they want. Given the tendency toward destructive behavior if under-exercised or bored, it is essential to manage Nixon's environment by restricting access to household items and discouraging jumping and climbing on things inside. Nixon enjoys a 50/ 50 balance of indoor comfort and outdoor activity. He likes being around his humans inside, giving and receiving affection, but also enjoys being outside to explore and go on walks. Although genetically built for pulling, his current lifestyle is not compatible with full-time sledding; it's not a full-time job he would want after experiencing inside life . He enjoys soft comfort, car rides, warmth, and social interaction. Nixon would love to have a playful female Husky companion or two.

Foster home update : Living, gentle PINK fostered in Halifax

Pink used to live in a rural area tied to a dog house in a back yard . Coming to Ns and being fostered in Halifax is a lot to navagiate .but the progress has been slow yet steady. Leashed walks were challenging with busy sude waljs, traffic and strange dogs and people coming towards her. Her foster has figured out her threshold before she reacts so does her best to keep her at the distance she feels most comfortable with. She iis quite curious just unsure.
Progress has been made on daytine walks with the threshold for reaction.narrowed. Pink and her handler have managed to pass dogs and people on the other side of the street with only keen interest.
Recently , it was dusk and they passed on the other side a dog for the second time with no reaction.
Also, a successful trip to Pink's foster Mom's parents home for thanksgiving dinner. 5 people in a crowded room with food. She was very well behaved.
