Collective bargaining without the right to strike is just collective begging.

The government is proposing new powers to end legal strikes and force workers back to work.

That takes away one of the most powerful tools workers have to win better wages, safer workplaces and a fair deal.

No one should have to choose between abuse and a paycheck.

In 2014, we learned that 1 in 3 workers had experienced domestic violence in their lifetime, and that violence followed them to work, putting jobs and safety at risk. Now it’s time to find out whether union, employer and government efforts to address domestic violence at work are having an impact.

We want to hear from all workers, whether or not you have experienced or witnessed domestic violence in your workplace.

🚨 Minimum wage hits $17/hour today, but with inflation up 5.1% in Nova Scotia that means wages are still worth less than they were last year.

We continue to call on this government to bring wages in line with the living wage and keep up with the pace of inflation. Working people won't be left behind! ✊

There will be a rally tomorrow at 12pm outside Shannon Miedema's Office, CIBC Building, 1809 Barrington Street, to defend the right to strike.

When the labour movement comes together, our collective voice is impossible to ignore. Let's fill the sidewalk on Barrington Street with the voices of working people. Please share the event details with your friends!

Today, September 30, workers across Nova Scotia and Canada are observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour residential school Survivors, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities who continue to live with the impacts of colonialism.

Today requires reflection, but it calls for action to. We ask workers to think about what they can do in their workplace and their community to advance Truth and Reconciliation.
