People can call the Happy at Home Navigation Line with questions about seniors’ programs, resources, services, and supports within the HRM. Our navigator can help you find what you’re looking for. If you don't know where to start, call us.

This free service is offered by Spencer House Seniors’ Centre.
Seniors are welcome to call, and people of any age can call with questions about supporting older adults in the HRM.

Resource Spotlight: PAUSE Mental Health through the North End Community Health Centre

The PAUSE Mental Health Program from the North End Community Health Centre offers free, walk-in support for adults in Halifax. No referral needed, just a caring space to talk and get help when you need it. They offer in person, telephone and group support.

At Happy at Home, we believe that mental wellness is just as important as physical health—and programs like PAUSE help seniors feel seen, heard, and supported in their communities. This resource isn't limited to seniors and requires no diagnosis, health card or pre-registration!

A mental health drop-in program where community members can access a 45 minutes counselling session on a first-come first-served basis.

Tomorrow! This is a great opportunity to learn how to keep yourself safe from scams thanks to our pals at Chebucto Links

A friendly reminder to join us tomorrow, July 8, at 50 Gesner St. () at 1:00 to learn how to avoid Scams! There is no need to preregister, refreshments will be provided so come and enjoy!

This is the first in a series of Safety Classes we are putting on thanks to the Government of Nova Scotia's Civil Forfeiture Grant Program. This program is meant to support crime prevention awareness.

If you are unable to attend in person, watch for our Fall Youtube Series on Senior Safety that we will be launching in October! This important series will cover topics to help you age well and live wisely.

Resource Spotlight:
At Happy at Home, our goal is simple: help older adults stay safe, supported, and happy in their homes. That’s why we love the CAPABLE program from VON—it’s working toward the same goal, and we’re so glad it’s available right here in our community.

Over a 4-month period, eligible seniors get in-home visits from a nurse, an occupational therapist, and a handy worker. Together, they help make small changes that can have a big impact on independence!

You can sign up right on their website, they're currently offering services in areas with postal codes starting with B3J, B3H, B3M, B3S, B3P and B3R!

Community Aging in Place, Advancing Better Living for Elders (or CAPABLE) is a home-based program that improves in-home safety and function so that people over the age of 65 having difficulty with activities of daily living can remain independent in their own homes longer.

Did you know there’s a whole organization in Nova Scotia dedicated to supporting caregivers?

Caregivers Nova Scotia is here for people who are helping a friend or family member due to age, illness, or disability. They offer:
One-on-one support
A toll-free caregiver help line
Free workshops and resources
A listening ear when things get overwhelming
ALL for caregivers specifically!

Caregiver burnout is real—and common! Getting support can make a real difference. At Happy at Home, we encourage caregivers to reach out, and explore what’s available. You don’t have to do it all alone—and you shouldn’t have to.
