Blind Sports Nova Scotia We love sports, recreation, and community! Goalball, tandem biking, and more. Our programs include goalball, tandem biking, and more.

Creating access to recreational & competitive sport and active lifestyles for Nova Scotians who are blind and partially sighted, of all ages and experience. We work closely with community partners to offer running guides, blind hockey, group fitness classes, and dragon boating. We're proud to host the Annual Nova Scotia Open Goalball Tournament, Goalball Nationals Championships, charity auctions, and public demonstrations & education.

Canada beat Australia 6-5 in a thrilling matchup at the IBSA Goalball World Championships. The team showed resilience and determination from start to finish to secure the victory.

An important message from Peter Parsons, Canadian Men’s Goalball athlete and Blind Sports NS Chair:

We are in Hangzhou, China for the goalball world championships. We have 4 Nova Scotian athletes - Peter Parsons, Mason Smith, Nick Gentleman and Harry Nickerson and assistant coach Matt Bartley from Nova Scotia. Our teammates are Blair Nesbitt from Alberta and Raki Karim from Quebec.

There are 16 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams. We are in a pool with Türkiye, Ukraine and Australia. Türkiye are European champs and Ukraine are Paralympic silver medalists.

We play TĂźrkiye in our first game at 1 AM Atlantic time on Tuesday, June 10.

The schedule for the 2026 IBSA Goalball World Championships in China has officially been released! 🇨🇳🌍

Starting on June 10, the world’s best Goalball teams will compete in the preliminary round as the journey toward the world title begins.

Beyond the medals, the stakes could not be higher: the tournament will also determine the first two qualification spots for the Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028 in both the men’s and women’s competitions. 🏅

The Canadian Men’s Goalball Team is headed to the 2026 IBSA Goalball World Championships, where they will take on the best teams in the world and compete for more than just a world title.

This championship marks the first opportunity to qualify for the LA 2028 Paralympic Games, making every game count. After months of training and preparation, the team is ready to represent Canada on the world stage and battle for a spot among the sport’s elite.

Join us in cheering on Team Canada as they begin their quest for world championship success and take the first step on the road to LA 2028.

Come to the Blindness 101 & Tandem Bike Pilot Workshop and help us spread the word! We are urgently seeking new volunteer pilots.

Blind Sports Nova Scotia’s free tandem biking program has been putting butts on bikes for over a decade and continues to grow!

Pilots make it possible for people who are blind and have low vision to access the joys and benefits of cycling through our free recreational tandem biking program.

If you’re a confident and experienced cyclist interested in volunteering your spare time to a fun and meaningful program, please RSVP to our next volunteer workshop.

New month, new announcement 🏒

Canadian Blind Hockey is thrilled to announce that the 2026 Eastern Regional Blind Hockey Tournament will take place as part of this season’s Hockey Day in Canada celebrations in Moncton. This will be the first-ever Blind Hockey tournament in the province!

The Eastern Regional Blind Hockey Tournament will be a two-team three game series featuring up to 34 players from across Canada. Each of the four Atlantic Provinces will be represented by players from the hometown Moncton SeeCats, the Nova Scotia SeeKings, the Newfoundland Eye-Landers, as well as players from PEI.
