RCFNS is a charitable foundation supporting rural Nova Scotia with donors through endowment, grants and leadership.

Our Mission: To build on the strengths of Nova Scotia’s rural communities by stimulating and establishing philanthropic giving, to develop a permanent endowment and to grant funds. The Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia supports community based initiatives which:
Seek to improve understanding of issues facing rural communities in Nova Scotia;
Offer solutions to problems and challenges of rural Nova Scotia;
Create an environment that enhances and sustains rural Nova Scotia. Our Vision:
Nova Scotia’s rural communities are dynamic, healthy and prosperous!

Play matters.

In 2026, RCFNS has invested over $300,000 into 24 projects across Nova Scotia through the Free to Play NS Fund. But the need for safe, accessible outdoor play spaces continues to grow – and so does the cost.

We are hitting the road!

Over the next few weeks, the RCFNS Executive Director and our summer students will be visiting communities across Cumberland-Colchester, Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish, and the South Shore–St. Margaret’s.

We are excited to connect, listen, and learn from communities across Nova Scotia. If you see us out and about, give us a wave.

Pride lives everywhere, including rural Nova Scotia.

Through the Rural Pride Fund, RCFNS is supporting grassroots Pride initiatives in St. Margaret’s Bay, West Hants, and Richmond County (Cape Breton).

We are so happy to play even a small part in these Pride celebrations. St. Margaret's Bay Pride is one of our partners in the Rural Pride Fund and we could not be happier with the momentum they are gaining.
