Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest

Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest For meeting location information please contact us via email [email protected] It has been for years, and it will be in the future.

Its Vision Statement is “ To be a community of friends existing for the betterment of society through Service Above Self, such service to be based on the Four Way Test “

For Rotary, The Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action. Of the things we think, say or do

1.Is it the TRUTH?
2.Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4.Will it be BENEFICIAL to

all concerned? The test is one of the hallmarks of Rotary. Since it was developed in 1932 by Herbert J. Taylor, who later became RI president, it has never ceased to be relevant. Its four brief questions are not based on culture or religion. Instead, they are a simple checklist for ethical behavior. They transcend generations and national borders.

UPDATE POSTPONED TILL APRIL, we apologize for any inconveniences

We’re excited to welcome Angela Bishop, Executive Director of the Housing Trust of Nova Scotia, for an important community conversation on the future of housing in Halifax.

Angela brings an impressive background in leadership, marketing, and strategic development, with years of experience driving initiatives that strengthen communities and support long-term growth.

She’ll be sharing updates on upcoming housing projects in Fairview and Spryfield, and discussing how these developments can support social and economic prosperity in our neighbourhoods.

This is a great opportunity for residents, business owners, and community members to learn more, ask questions, and be part of the conversation about our city’s future.

Let’s come together to support strong, sustainable communities.

Yesterday’s meeting was a great mix of learning, planning, and looking ahead!

We began with a land acknowledgement and an Indigenous Moment from Maria, who shared fascinating insights on Medicines in Nature and the traditional uses of plants like witch hazel, sphagnum moss, and serviceberries.

We were also very happy to welcome back Rebecca Pierce from MSVU, who spoke about the importance of consistent branding and how clear visuals, messaging, and social media best practices help strengthen Rotary’s identity and impact. We’re excited to be working with Rebecca more closely in the weeks ahead to support our club’s multimedia and external communications strategies.

The meeting also included updates on Youth Exchange opportunities, planning for the upcoming HRM Rotary Trivia Night at Mill Cove Brew Pub, and progress on interviews for the Youth-to-Youth program.

Another productive meeting focused on connection, community, and moving our club forward!

Yesterday, members of the Halifax Northwest Rotary Club came together to sort Christmas Wishes, and with the incredible support of the Joseph Howe Superstore staff and the generosity of their customers, we collected an estimated $8,000–$10,000 in gifts for families in need across our community.

Toys, clothing, housewares, baby items, personal care products, and $950+ in gift cards were carefully sorted and delivered to five of our valued community partners: Phoenix House for Youth, Herring Cove Apartments, Chebucto Family Centre, The Salvation Army, and the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre.

It was a privilege to deliver gifts to the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre, where we were warmly welcomed by Donna LeBlanc and Eugene Barry, who helped unload Santa’s bounty. We hope these gifts help brighten Christmas morning and lift the spirits of families during this special season.

We were also honoured to meet Elder Eisen, who has played an important role in supporting our club’s education and understanding of Mi’kmaw and Indigenous cultures. As she prepares for retirement, we wish her continued health, happiness, and prosperity, knowing this won’t be the last time our paths cross.

From all of us at Halifax Northwest Rotary, we wish you a Merry Christmas, a joyful holiday season, and a New Year filled with health, happiness, and peace ❤️✨
