We ask for your support during a time of hardship for members of our extended community. 🌎🤝🇯🇲

Jamaica, one of the most vibrant and beautiful countries, was hit by Hurricane Melissa, a devastating category 5 hurricane in October. This disaster has left thousands without electricity, food, or shelter, and many families have been separated from their loved ones.

Within the Dalhousie Black Law Students’ Association several of our members call Jamaica home. As a community that prides itselt on compassion and solidarity, we believe it is important to stand with them and with the people of Jamaica during this difficult time.

We are kindly asking you to consider making a donation to help support the ongoing relief efforts if you are able. Details on how to donate and the supported charity are stated in the post.

🌷 In her recent article, “Bloom,” for the Weldon Times, Teiyana Cain advises us that in moments of darkness we are not buried, we are being planted 🌱:

“When you find yourself in the darkness, in the silence
When all that’s left to face is yourself

It is easy to think that you are being buried

But if you take a step back,

If you allow patience, love and kindness to nurture your wounds

You will soon realize that you are actually being planted

Like a seed fresh and ready to germinate

So the next time that you feel that the darkness is too great a burden to bear, remember that you are being planted

Planted for greatness

And if you stay the course in due season, you will bloom” 🪷

Teiyana beautifully reflects on beauty and balance found in life’s hardest transitions. “Bloom” reminds us we are constantly becoming, even through life’s most difficult seasons.
