Samba Nova The rhythm of the saints! Samba Nova is a community percussion group. Open to all! Come play! Contact us http://www.sambanova.org/ Hope to see you!

How to join in: Samba Nova is a community band, based in the Brazilian batucada / samba enredo style (think Carnival in Rio!)

We practice every Tuesday at Saint Matthews church gym, from 6:30- 7:30pm

Come listen or join in! Instruments are provided and the first session is free. It's just $5 a week after that - one heck of a great deal. Once you learn some pieces and have developed a level of skill you'll be invited to perform at one of our many gigs or events. There's no feeling on earth quite the same as playing samba in a summertime parade grooving up the middle of Spring Garden Road or Barrington Street, to the thunder of the drums!

And that's a wrap for another incredible summer samba season! Our last show was at the Nova Multifest and we're now shut down until September.

We're playing Fam Fest in early September and then regular public practices start on September 18th. If you've ever wondered what it was like to play in Halifax's only samba band, that will be the time to sign up.

We welcome everybody regardless of experience. We provide the instruments and all. Very affordable too at just $10 a week and nobody is turned away for lack of funds.

We are so grateful to our amazing band leaders and the people who make everything happen behind the scenes. And of course to you, our fans and supporters. Without you, it just wouldn't be the same.

❤️Big samba love from all of us at Samba Nova!❤️

Quote of the day from u/Guilty_Reindeer8204 on the r/Halifax subreddit:

“The Halifax Samba Band could be a recurring character on Arrested Development or Portlandia that always appears when someone is trying to have an important conversation or pass along a sensitive detail. The chaos of the whistles and the brrrrraping always takes me out.”

We’re done! 😂🥰
