Thank you to everyone who joined our Paint & Plant workshop as part of IMWAH’s Enabling Accessibility project 🌱💛

Together, participants decorated planting pots, planted seeds, and reflected on how caring for a plant can remind us of the care we give to ourselves, our families, and our communities.

It was such a beautiful afternoon of creativity, connection, and community. We loved seeing everyone’s unique pots come to life and sharing space together in such a gentle and joyful way.

A special thank you to Nailah Moon for facilitating this meaningful workshop, and to everyone who helped make the event possible.

We are grateful for the women who joined us and continue to make IMWAH’s spaces so warm, creative, and full of life. 🌿✨

IMWAH is grateful we were able to attend the Web of Impact, hosted by the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children at Western University.

The gathering brought together representatives from WAGE / FEGC-funded projects across Canada to share learning, reflect on impact, and explore approaches that can support work across the gender-based violence sector.

We shared our experience with Circle of Women, our project focused on supporting immigrant and migrant women in Nova Scotia through community connection, education, and culturally responsive gender-based violence prevention and support.

It was a meaningful opportunity to connect with other organizations, learn from different project experiences, and reflect on the importance of collaborative, community-rooted approaches to creating safer and more supportive communities.

Thank you to CREVAWC and everyone involved in creating such a thoughtful and inspiring space.

We’re growing our English Conversation Groups through community partnerships 💛

These sessions are a space where people come together to connect, practice English, and build confidence — but more than anything, they are about creating community.

We’re looking to collaborate with:

• Local businesses
• Community organizations

This could look like hosting a session, co-creating an activity, or simply opening your space to something meaningful.

It’s a great opportunity to:
✨ Connect with diverse communities
✨ Create welcoming and inclusive spaces
✨ Be part of something community-driven

If this resonates, we’d love to connect.Send us an email at [email protected] 💌

We’re excited to share that we are refreshing our volunteer database as part of building a stronger, more sustainable volunteer program for 2026–2027.

You will:
🌟Help create welcoming spaces for immigrant and migrant women
🌟Be part of meaningful, community-driven work
🌟Gain experience in facilitation, communications, partnerships, and more
🌟Connect with a diverse and supportive community

We are building a community-supported model, where volunteers help lead and sustain these spaces, while also encouraging intercultural exchange between newcomer and non-newcomer community members. One of our main priorities right now is to sustain our English Conversation Groups, which are a key space for connection, confidence-building, and belonging.

✨ If you have signed up in the past, we kindly ask that you re-register so we know you are still interested and available.

Please fill out the form below to register your interest: https://forms.gle/Nn8eei3jcyMn3pnDA

We’re really excited to continue growing this community together 💛

What did she carry that carried your family?

We are so excited to share In Her Hands, a new call for submissions inviting people across Nova Scotia / Mi’kma’ki to reflect on the women in their families who immigrated to Canada and the meaningful objects they carried with them.

Through photographs and short stories, this project honours the strength, care, and love of immigrant women whose journeys helped shape families, cultures, and communities.

We welcome submissions from people of all gender identities and all generations of immigrant families.

To submit, please send:
Two photos of the object in the person’s hands
A short story about the woman and the object she immigrated with
Her name, if you would like her to be credited

Send your photos and story to:
[email protected]

Deadline: May 15, 2026
You can read more instructions and see some examples here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13uGUd8XaZLkZViZZDsEYRGamJFAw8xDt/view?usp=sharing
