NS Early Childhood Development Intervention Services (ECDIS) provide province-wide specialized services to families of young children between birth and school entry, who either have a biological risk for or a diagnosis of, developmental delay. Consultation, information, support and services designed to meet the individual needs of each child and family are delivered in the child’s home and may extend to community based programs.

Nova Scotia Early Childhood Intervention Services (NSECDIS) is offering a FREE one-day session for Early Childhood Educators on Addressing Challenging Behaviours and Positive Behaviour Support Planning.

This session is August 29, 2026, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with a 1 hour lunch break.

Young Lights: Bright Futures — Carers and Me! 🌈

We’re excited to launch a new program, made possible through the support of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia

What:
Join us for a free, fully inclusive program for young children of all abilities (ages 0–5+) and their carers to connect, play, learn, and grow together. Sessions include interactive movement, musical games, sensory activities, and more!

We’re also thrilled to welcome Wanda (Child Development Specialist) and Morgan (Music Therapist from the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts), who will each join us once a month.

When:
Weekly sessions on Saturday mornings, 10am to 12pm
First session: May 16th, 2026

Where:
Progress Place (5505 Clyde St, Halifax)

Who can attend?
Everyone is welcome! This integrated program is open to children of all abilities (ages 0–5+) and their carers.

No registration is required — feel free to drop in at any time!

Ici, au SIDPENE, nous parlons souvent du modèle de la Pyramide, mais comment nos pratiques quotidiennes s’y rattachent-elles concrètement ?

Le modèle de la Pyramide n’est pas seulement un cadre de référence, c’est une manière d’organiser notre soutien au développement socioaffectif, en partant de la base.

Chaque niveau repose sur celui qui le précède. Cela signifie que des stratégies telles que nouer des relations, nommer les émotions ou soutenir le personnel éducatif ne sont pas des concepts isolés. Elles font toutes partie du même système !

Cela contribue à rendre notre travail plus intentionnel, cohérent et efficace.

We talk a lot about the Pyramid Model here at NSECDIS, but how do everyday practices actually connect to it?

The Pyramid Model isn’t just a framework, it’s a way of organizing how we support social-emotional development, from the foundation up.

Each level depends on the one below it. That means strategies like building relationships, labelling emotions, or supporting educators aren’t separate ideas. hey are all part of the same system!

This helps make our work more intentional, consistent, and effective.
