CADETS CANCELLED 31 MAY 2023
All,
First, I want to convey to those staff members and cadets that have already been directly impacted by the Wildfire and associated evacuation orders that my thoughts are with you during this difficult, stressful, and uncertain time. Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can provide support in any way.
As I draft this message the Wildfire unfortunately remains categorized as uncontained, evacuation orders are in place, and many others have been warned to remain ready to evacuate with 30mins notice or less. This is certainly distressing. Additionally, HRM EMO has advised to eliminate non-essential travel to keep routes clear. Considering all this information I have made the decision to cancel cadets this evening, 31 May 2023.
Our Annual Ceremonial Review scheduled for 03 June will continue as scheduled. The CO’s parade and awards scheduled to be presented this evening will now occur on 07 June.
It is my sincere hope that cancelling this evening will be viewed in hindsight as an unnecessary step and that our hard-working firefighters and other first responders will be able to contain this wildfire and families able to return to their homes and normal routines. Rain in the weekend forecast also brings me hope for that conclusion.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our ACR where we can truly focus on celebrating the amazing training year we have had and your many outstanding accomplishments.
Stay safe and be well.
