Our 2026 Black History Month Dinner showcases the Djeli Sika Group (meaning “the path of the griot”), comprising master drummers and dancers from the ancient Mandingo Empire of West Africa. True to its name, Djeli Sira preserves the roots of the Malinke griot tradition. The griot, or djeli, is the oral historian of the people, transmitting history, culture, and values from generation to generation. Amadou Kienou and Djeli Sira, like their predecessors, create modern music mirroring today's realities. They show the deep feelings of these old, respected traditions with music, singing, and dancing. Come and join us on February 14, 2026 with your loved one to celebrate. Our 2026 Black History Month dinner will take place on February 14, 2026, at Rosaria Hall, Mount Saint Vincent University. We are showcasing the Nigerian-born Afro-soul singer Modele, known for her warm vocals and soulful stage presence. Her beautiful singing voice is smooth and gentle, creating a calming and enchanting sound. Another interesting thing about Modele is that her soulful singing voice is deeply emotional, expressing a wide range of feelings and experiences. Her voice carries the weight of her emotions, touching the hearts of listeners and resonating with them on a personal level. I invite you to experience Modele as she performs during our 2026 Black History Month dinner. For tickets, visit the Eventbrite link. https://2026bhm.ventbrite.ca
