Your week is starting off right when you unbox a package and find 60+ adorable stuffed animals. And it gets even better when each stuffie comes with a voice recorder inside! 🐶🐯🐻🐮

This special delivery re-stocked our collection of memorial stuffed animals for patients who would like to leave a loving message for a child to remember them by.

Patients are reassured by knowing their loved ones will have a way to hear their words after they’re gone, and children can be comforted with a soft hug to remember their loved one.

In addition to memorial stuffed animals, the box also included a set of storybooks that allow a person to record their own narration.

Together, these gifts support children’s grief by letting a child continue to have story time with their grandma or fall asleep to their father’s lullaby.

Thank you to the NSLC Regional Giving Program and the support of their Employee Community Advisory Committee for this incredible gift to patients and children.

This quiet moment in the garden was too peaceful not to take a photo.

Our Nurse Manager, Claire, spotted a patient enjoying the light morning rain with Selma by their side, who was carefully holding an umbrella overhead. It only took a second for Claire to reach for her phone because she knew it was a memory worth saving.

Moments of kindness and companionship happen everyday at Hospice Halifax. Taking the time to pause and notice them reminds us that, it’s often these simple acts of care that make a person’s life comfortable and joyful.

As part of their Young Artists program, our friends from the Scotia Music Festival returned this year to play another a special concert for
patients and families to enjoy.

It was the perfect day to open the windows and let the music make its way through the Hospice residence and out into the garden.

Thank you Scotia Festival of Music for sharing this moment of calm with us and introducing the amazing talent of the next generation. 💕

Important questions: In 1,000 hours, how many cookies can you bake? How many miles can you put on a meal cart?

We don’t have the answer to our questions, but we know that the impact of 1,000 hours from a volunteer like Paulette goes beyond what numbers we can count.

This week, Paulette surpassed 1,000 hours of volunteering at the Hospice residence.💐

In these hours, kitchen and clinical staff have trusted that baked goods and mealtimes will be handled with care, and patients have felt comforted by the reliability of a familiar face in uncertain times.

Paulette’s routine at Hospice is actually so established that she nearly signed out and headed home before we had the chance to give her flowers in recognition of her support!

Thank you, Paulette, for every hour of your time and the intentional care you put into each one.💕

Father's Day grief can be about more than losing a father.

It can be missing the person you could always count on, or grieving a relationship that never became what you hoped it would be. For some, it can be the pain of losing a child and the future they wanted to give them.

No matter the loss you're carrying this Father's Day, there is room for all of it.
Our free Peer Grief Support Group meets this Saturday at Hospice Halifax from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No registration is needed.

If you'd like to know more about what to expect at your first group, message us or call 902-446-0929. You can also visit hospicehalifax.ca/programs.

No matter how long ago your loss was, or how it happened, your feelings matter and you deserve to be heard.💕
