It’s important to be prepared when you head out on a hike! Here’s a quick guide to what you need to know before tomorrow’s Hike for Hospice.

Free street parking is available on surrounding streets. If you need accessibility parking, our dedicated volunteers will be on site in front of Hospice Halifax to guide you to a reserved spot.

Please take note that the Tower Road bridge is closed for vehicles and pedestrians. You can make your way over the Young Avenue bridge to detour.

With a forecast of light rain, we recommend a light rain jacket and water resistance shoes.

Lastly, for all washroom needs, accessible washrooms are available through the back entrance of Hospice Halifax (a volunteer will be there to let you in), and additional washrooms are open downstairs in the Atlantic Theology Building.

See you all on the trail!

[Article link in the comments] Executive Director, Jocelyn Hamilton, was featured in Halifax Guardian's Charitable Choices series! She shares how Hospice Halifax became the first hospice residence in the province, and how we can work together to create more hospice beds for Nova Scotians.

Charitable Choice is a local eNews segment where non-profits nominate each other to educate and share their mission with readers. Thank you to the Lung Association of LungNSPEI for your nomination!

We're passing the baton to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia!

For many Nova Scotians, Hospice Halifax represents something deeply important: compassionate care, dignity, and support during life’s most difficult moments. Under the leadership of Hospice Halifax Executive Director Jocelyn Hamilton, the non-profit continues to provide free end-of-life care and grief support services in a home-like environment designed to bring comfort to patients and their loved ones.

When a patient mentioned how much she missed her weekly karaoke nights, we picked up the phone to make it happen.

Thanks to our friends at .quoir, and their karaoke machine that spun disco lights around the room, patients sang and shared the songs that have stayed with them through the years.

During a performance of Piano Man, everyone swayed their arms together and sang along. It felt just like a night out at karaoke when music brings new friends together. 🎤🎹

Hike for Hospice is a chance for us to walk in memory of our loved ones while helping others receive the free, compassionate end-of-life care and grief support that everyone deserves.

Atlantic Funeral Home - Halifax has felt like a natural partner for Hike. Similar to the care we give at our hospice residence, their staff supports families during one of the most tender points of grief and creates experiences that honour a person’s personal wishes.

Thank you to Atlantic Funeral Homes for your continued support as the Presenting Sponsor of Hike for Hospice for the second year in a row.

Hospice Halifax and Atlantic Funeral Homes look forward to seeing you on the trail. Visit hospicehalifax.ca/hike to learn more about the event, register, or make a donation!

An anonymous Hospice Halifax supporter has generously promised to match Hike for Hospice donations up to $6,000!

That means every dollar donated can have double the impact.

💕 When you give $25, your gift becomes one full hour of clinical hospice care at $50.

💕 With a gift of $50, you’ll be matched to the $100 needed to heat the hospice residence for one night.

Whether you give $25, $50, $100, or more, your hike will double its steps and support.

Donate by Sunday, June 7 for your gift to count towards this matching opportunity!

Meet the Haverstock and Boland Family.

Their family is honouring the life and memory of their beloved mother, Helen, with Hospice Halifax's "Adopt a Room" program.

This gift in Helen’s honour connects her memory to a space filled with love, comfort, and care. It also extends that care through the family’s support of Hospice Halifax’s free, compassionate end-of-life care and grief supports for Nova Scotians.

With this meaningful dedication, Helen’s Room will be a place where patients and families spend precious moments together in comfort and wrapped in support.

We are deeply grateful to the Haverstock and Boland family for celebrating Helen’s life in a way that honours her memory while helping others receive the compassionate end-of-life care everyone deserves. Thank you. 💕

Hospice Halifax is lucky to have a precious team of support animals visit the residence, and now you’ll also see them on the trail at Hike for Hospice!

Roo, Cookie, and Butterball are fundraising with their humans so they can keep visiting the people and families they love and to help Hospice continue providing important care.

When you help The Heartfelt Helpers reach their goal of $30,000, you’ll be helping Nova Scotians receive the end-of-life care and grief supports that everyone deserves, completely free of charge.💕

It takes a special kind of person to come into the final chapter of someone’s life and still build the kind of trust that helps them feel safe and cared for.

This ability is a superpower all on its own.

In recognition of , Nurse Manager Claire and Communications Coordinator Sade gifted the nurses at Hospice Halifax their own superhero alter ego trading cards 🦸✨

From Briana’s “East Coast Grounding” to Selma’s “Aura of Ease” and Kaitlyn’s “Charting Mastery,” the Hospice Heroes make a difference for patients and families everyday, with or without capes.

Elliot gets a great view of what goes on at Hospice Halifax from the nurse's station, even from the floor or someone's lap.

He’s joining Hike for Hospice to make sure he can keep watching his favourite nurses care for patients and their families at Hospice Halifax.

Search for “Elliot” under the donation page at hospicehalifax.ca/hike 🐾

Elliot’s legs don't always take him far so make sure to give him a good boost with your gift!
