On World Humanitarian Day, we recognize humanitarian workers, volunteers, organizations, and community leaders around the world who support people through crisis, displacement, conflict, disaster, and hardship.

Their work reminds us of the importance of dignity, safety, compassion, and community.

We also want to recognize the role that housing organizations and homelessness-serving partners play in that broader effort. Safe, stable, and affordable housing is a critical foundation for individual and community wellbeing, and we are grateful to the people across our sector working every day to help make that possible.

You asked, we listened.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback from last year’s AGM & Education Day was that attendees wanted more time to connect.

This year, we are making that happen.

The NSNPHA AGM will take place on June 16 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed directly by a dedicated networking and social event starting at 5:00 PM.

This evening gathering is designed to give members, partners, and sector leaders more time to meet, reconnect, share ideas, and build relationships across Nova Scotia’s non-profit housing sector.

Guests will enjoy reception-style food as part of the evening, along with one complimentary drink ticket included with your event ticket. A cash bar will also be available.

The next day, June 17, will feature a full day of speakers and education sessions.

This Mental Health Week, the NSNPHA reflected on this year’s theme, Come Together, Canada.

The theme speaks to the importance of connection, support, and community, values that are also deeply connected to housing. Safe, affordable housing helps create the stability people need to feel supported and well, while strong communities are built when people come together to help meet housing needs.

At the NSNPHA, we know that housing is about more than buildings. It is also about belonging, dignity, and creating the conditions for healthier lives and stronger communities.
